Congratulations to Ellie Carter, a PhD student in Chemistry, for winning the Teaching Excellence award for Postgraduate students. Thoroughly deserved after the amount of hard work put in helping our students navigate first year labs!

The 2021 National Student Survey results are out and 84% of our students agreed that courses are intellectually stimulating in the Department of Chemistry!

Well done for making in to the Olympics. We are so proud of you and will be watching you on the giant screen in CAF that we bought for watching sport *cough* we mean looking at NMR spectra *cough* 🤩

An exciting summer studentship opportunity has become available! Working alongside Anthony Powell, this 10 week funded studentship will be investigating iron sulphides for use in batteries, and aims to provide experience in synthesis using traditional and novel high and low temperature methods alongside powder X-ray diffraction and property measurements.

The project should commence at the end of June and offers a stipend of £356 per week. If you would like to apply or have any questions, please get in contact with Anthony directly.
