Another special Moon Walk. We are waiting to confirm the number of bat species found and hoping that there is some very exciting news!
We also loved watching the Flower Moon rise to a background chorus from the young tawny owls dotted around the lake. Their calls tell their parents where to find them with delicious food!

Species for tonight's moon walk-
Various water fowl, Common, Soprano and Nathusius pipistrelles and at least 6 Noctules foraging over the lake. It was amazing! The Egyptian goose family and heron were calm and still and as we left them, the full Pink Moon rose over the trees and shone light across the sky.
Thank you to all the moon walkers that came along...thank you University of Reading.

Species check for the second moon walk was Soprano and Common Pipistrelles, Noctules, two unspecified myotis and a rat for mammals. Toads, frogs and a smooth newt for reptiles, Song thrush, blackbird, robin, Canada geese, moorhens, coots, tawny owls, wrens and blue t**s for birds. Lots of insects and double the number of people as last month too. The moon put on a beautiful display for us, several planets were clear to view and some of us ended up at Park House for a drink and chat afterwards. Very lovely.
Our next Moon Walk is on Thursday 2nd April...

What a privilege to be part of this wonderful community event with a network of local partners.
"There were so many wonderful activities to take part in which the girls and I loved. And also meeting such wonderful human beings was a highlight for me."
Our walk focussed on days where all you can do is put one foot in front of the other and keep going. It also explored our power to choose to balance our negative thoughts with more positive ones in our day to day interactions with the world.
