At The Ranger Station we are delighted to inform you that we are commissioned again to provide SEND Short Breaks on Tuesday 27th October.

We support young people on a ratio of one adult to four children, with a level of compliance that allows the children to follow instructions and request support if required. This allows the team to safely run HAF whilst the children engage in the activities planned. If you feel your child can independently participate then we would love to hear from you and can offer a space. There will be additional requirements that need to be met during registration process.

During the session if we feel your child isn’t settling in or needs extra support which we don’t offer for short breaks we may need to call you to collect, please understand that we always help settle in all our children with the intention of them staying for the full session. Occasionally children need more support and cannot cope in our ratio of 1 adult per 4 children, we cannot provide one to one support.

Short breaks is charged at £10 per child and there are 12 bookable spaces (to qualify you either need to pay your council tax to Reading Borough Council or your child has an EHCP) Those who fall outside these requirements will need to pay £30 for the session.


Start time 11am

Finish time 3pm

Drop in can be between 11am and 11:45am

Pick up can be from 2:15pm to 3pm

Den making
Climbing tree
Soft archery
Arts and crafts
Indoor and outdoor playground games
Football
Tennis
Mini golf
Foot golf
Nature walks
Cake making

Some activities listed above maybe weather dependent, therefore we will ensure that we have alternative activities planned.

We are Reading Educational Play and Support, we are based at the Ranger Station in Prospect park and our services include short breaks, young carers, school support, play provision from the Ranger station and around the town, sports and childcare.
