This Saturday’s Readipop Yard Party 2026 will see the return of our much loved AAA Takeover, where participants of our various youth projects get to perform tracks they have created with us.

For us at Readipop and many others, the AAA Takeover has been the main highlight of the Readipop Festivals as they allow our talented young people to share what they have been creating at The Drop (our term-time musical hang outs), AAA Fridays (our free Friday afternoon youth clubs) and 1:2:1 sessions (often referred from schools).

Come and see for yourself the future stars we are proud to be helping develop in our studios! Tickets are free from the link below (all donations welcomed and will directly help our work).

Our Readipop Festival events are never complete without a performance from Readipop’s legendary community samba group Beatroots and the equally impressive African drummers Tankata Percussion, so we’re delighted to have them both as part of this Saturday’s Readipop Yard Party 2026! 🪘🥁😍🙌

Beatroots Bateria is a long running community samba drumming group based in Reading and run by Readipop . Renowned for their energetic, carnival-style music, Beatroots blends a rich mix of African, Asian, and Latin-American rhythms. The group is heavily influenced by the Bahian Samba Reggae beats of Salvador, Brazil.

Over three decades, Beatroots has performed at numerous major events and festivals, including WOMAD, the Thames Festival, London’s Millennium celebrations, and Live Earth at Wembley.
During the London 2012 Olympics, the band entertained crowds at the Eton Dorney rowing events, and members proudly drummed in the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Tankata Percussion is a vibrant community and performance drumming group based in Reading. Having been part of the Readipop family for 14 years, they bring the energy, spirit and infectious rhythms of West Africa to audiences everywhere. They play traditional West African rhythms on djembe, dundun and percussion, combining powerful grooves, movement and community spirit to create an exciting live experience. Better sitill, there will be extra drums so you, your friends & family can join in too!

Don’t forget to get your tickets in advance from link below...they’re free (but you’re very welcome to donate and help support the work of Readipop!)

Our final addition to the Readipop Yard Party line-up for next Saturday (22nd August) is another great friend and longtime Readipop collaborator, Nicky B***y

In Nicky's own words "Once a music artist, Nicky B***y is returning to the stage after a long and largely unexplained absence. She’ll be playing covers while attempting to work out, in real time, what exactly she’s doing with music these days."

We feel very privileged to be welcoming Nicky back to our stage and sharing these next steps as she has played an important part in our journey over the past eight years.

Tickets for 22nd August are available now from the link below. Tickets are free with all donations to Readipop warmly welcomed.

More fresh talent is coming to Readipop Yard Party next Saturday (22nd August), this time from up-and-coming local five piece Meli & The Burnt Sugar!

Meli & The Burnt Sugar is an original 5-piece woman led indie-rock band crafting loud, powerful indie rock energy with heart felt songwriting, they deliver a commanding live performance that is gritty and melodic. Singer-songwriter Meli Foster-Turner fronts the band formed with her sixth form school friends and their live sets include original material alongside a selection of covers including Mazzy Star, Paramore and The Cranberries.

The band expands Meli’s solo indie-folk sound into a band context while keeping her voice and guitar central.

Joining yesterday’s full line-up announcement for Readipop Yard Party on Saturday 22nd August, we are super excited to be welcoming festival favourite and long-time friend of Readipop, Jess Tuthill!

Jess Tuthill is a singer-songwriter from Reading. She has been writing music for over 20 years, taking inspiration from her surroundings, and has received several plays from BBC Introducing Oxfordshire & Berkshire. Whilst her music is often delicate and melancholy, it is accompanied by a warmth and humour in her sets which always manages to captivate an attentive crowd, no matter the size.

Jess played a fantastic set at last year’s Readipop Fiesta and we can’t wait to have her back for our Yard Party. Tickets are available now from the link below (all donations welcomed and help greatly towards the work of Readipop)

Readipop has been proudly supporting the local Electronic Music community for several years through our RG EMOMs (Electronic Music Open Mics) alongside other events, meet-ups and workshops as part of our XOX PROJECT. At Readipop Yard Party 2026 on Saturday 22nd August, we showcase two artists performing short sets to give the audience a flavour of the talent and creativity we’re experiencing at our regular XOX events (see READING EMOM COMMUNITY (Readipop Project) for our full Autumn Schedule):

Best known as one of the pioneers of the Reading EMOM community, Rob Woodward is returning to the stage as SuperAudioNation (formerly midiphonic). Preferring live synths to samples, Rob fuses classic analogue tones with energetic melodic techno beats to create ever-evolving tracks.

Hi Scores & Yogert bring the sound of late 80s acid house using the original instruments Roland TR 909, TB 303 and SH 101.

Attendees of our Yard Party can also see our new XOX STUDIO by joining one of our studio tours. The studio is filled with original vintage synths and drums machine synonymous with the origins of dance music, hip hop and more!

For tickets to join us on 22nd August, see lhttps://www.citizenticket.com/events/readipop-3/readipop-yard-party-2026/. Entry is free (donations welcomed to help us continue our work at Readipop).
