St Joseph's College is a thriving independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18 years.

We are extremely proud of our school and see our pupils flourish in a trusting and encouraging environment where they feel heard and valued. Our smaller size creates a breadth of opportunity and responsibility for your child that you can rarely find elsewhere. At St Joseph’s we don’t just talk about values, we really live them.

National Psychology Competition Winners!

Congratulations to our Year 12 students, who won the National Psychology Competition at Royal Holloway University, beating 61 other entries from across the country!

The competition challenged students to answer the question, “To what extent can psychology help build a happier and stronger community?” through a two-minute video and a poster presentation.

After submitting their video in advance, the students presented their poster to the judges yesterday and were named overall winners.

An incredible achievement - well done to Asees, Laura, Max, Laasya and Amelie.

On Friday evening, Year 6 invited their parents and teaching staff to ‘Come Dine With Me’ – an annual St Joseph’s tradition.

The pupils prepared elements of a delicious three course meal and were busy throughout the evening serving food and drinks to their guests. They also entertained with speeches reflecting on their time at St Joseph’s, sharing first-day memories, amusing anecdotes and thanking the adults who have made a difference during their journey through the school.

It was a special evening filled with warm reminiscences, camaraderie and gratitude. Year 6 would also like to extend a special thank you to the catering team at Thomas Franks Ltd for making the event possible.

Year 10 enjoyed a day on the South Coast on Friday, examining coastal management strategies and investigating their effectiveness. Our spirits were kept high by the beautiful landscapes and team work. Windy but dry. A great day.

This week our STEP students went to the Royal Courts of Justice for the final STEP trip of the year. Students took part in a mock trial - Cooper was our defendant and was questioned ruthlessly by Freya who acted as the Prosecution Barrister. However, the Jury (Miss Marandola) was not convinced by the evidence so we are pleased to say Cooper's character was found not guilty! An exciting day for all and a really lovely way to round off the Student Extension Programme.

Just before half term, the One Day Film School came in to work with our Year 7 and 8 Drama Club students and our Drama STEP programme pupils.

Around 70 students had the opportunity to learn about stage fighting, different types of camera shots, film production and editing. At the end of the day the films were screened to an audience of students and parents and Oscar’s awarded for best film, best actor and best technical achievement. Watch this space for the films to be revealed!

As always our students were incredibly creative and industrious and produced impressive work in such a short space of time. Thank you again to the One Day Film School team for making this happen.

The latest new topic this term for Reception is 'Let's go to the Beach' and last week they focused on under the sea animals. The children enjoyed exploring the sensory tin and making their own oceans in the water tray. They used creative resources to make their own fish and jellyfish too.
