You'll work with the latest vehicles and driver assistance technologies, supporting testing programmes that help improve vehicle safety.
One day you could be preparing test vehicles, the next supporting advanced safety testing or accurately collecting and communicating test data and results.

Fivos Panagiotopoulos, Principal Engineer - Connected Car, recently presented to members of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators, exploring how connected vehicle technologies and Software-Defined Vehicles are reshaping the automotive landscape.

The session examined the implications of connected vehicles for risk assessment, repair processes, insurance considerations, and how vehicle-generated data can support traffic accident investigations. These are increasingly important topics as vehicles become more software-driven and connected.

The presentation prompted lots of questions and valuable discussions, including how the switch-off of 2G and 3G networks could affect older vehicles that do not support 4G connectivity.

As vehicle technology continues to evolve, these conversations highlight the importance of collaboration between researchers, insurers, repairers, investigators and manufacturers to ensure the industry can effectively utilise vehicle data to improve understanding of incidents and support future investigations.

We recently welcomed Global Cycling Network (GCN) to our Gamston testing facility to explore the dangers of distracted driving and the role vehicle safety technology can play in helping protect vulnerable road users.
