Year 2 had a fantastic day at Cotswold Wildlife Park last week! The children loved seeing all of the amazing animals and learning more about their habitats and how they are cared for.

One of the highlights of the trip was riding on the land train around the park, which gave everyone the chance to see even more of the beautiful surroundings.

The children were a real credit to SCPS throughout the day, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour. Well done, Year 2!

The one change that worked: I felt like an outsider in my village – until I found a simple way to connect I was isolated and nervous when I decided to roll up my sleeves and start volunteering. But I shouldn’t have been intimidated. It’s brought so much happiness and community into my life

“Rain, rain, go away… come again another day!”

Last week, Year 1 enjoyed a very exciting — and very wet — visit to Harcourt Arboretum. Despite the rainy weather, the children had a fantastic time exploring the grounds and learning all about trees, habitats and conservation through a series of engaging talks and activities.

Wellies were definitely essential, but the rain certainly didn’t dampen their spirits! We were also incredibly proud of the children, who were awarded 1,000 team points each for representing SCPS so brilliantly throughout the trip.

Year 3 were challenged to create a healthy snack as part of their DT project this term. Working in groups, they designed and made yoghurt-based snacks, including frozen yoghurt bars and smoothies. Throughout the week, the children carefully planned every aspect of their product, from selecting ingredients to designing attractive packaging. On Friday, they brought their ideas to life and enjoyed making their creations!

Kites, Year 2 and Year 6 all had workshops from Science Oxford this week. Kites made air powered mice, Year 2 learnt about animals and created their own creatures, whilst Year 6 had to do some codebreaking using Micro:bit. A massive thank you to who delivered some really interesting sessions. We definitely have some budding scientists here at SCPS!
