Sonning Common 10K runners — come and see our track on Sunday!

Over the last three years, your support has helped us fund our track and we’re so grateful for everyone who has played a part.

If you’re taking part in this year’s Sonning Common 10k, come along and see what your support has helped make possible!

Our school run club has just gone up a notch! We regularly have more than 40 pupils taking part each week in our morning run club, and we’re already making great use of this fantastic resource.

It’s brilliant to see the track being used by our pupils and becoming such a valuable part of school life.

Year 2 went outside as part of their art lesson to create outdoor rubbings. They explored the environment around them, looking for interesting textures and patterns to rub onto paper. Back in the classroom, they arranged their rubbings in their sketchbooks and discussed the different textures they could see and feel.

Is your child due to start school in September 2027? We would love to meet you at one of Sonning Common Primary School’s Open Days on 15th October and 12th November 2026. Each event will include a welcome talk from our headteacher, Mrs Salmons, followed by a tour of the school with our Year 6 children. You are very welcome to bring your children with you.

Our new Kites have already got into the swing of school life and have been busy exploring all that our continuous provision has to offer, both indoors and outside.

It has been such a joy getting to know our new Kites and seeing their curiosity and confidence grow each day. We are especially delighted to see the improvements we made to our outdoor environment last year being enjoyed so enthusiastically by our new cohort.

A truly happy, excited and adventurous bunch- we think they’re going to have a fantastic year!

This Saturday, we are opening up our school site to all local children between 1.30 and 3.30pm. It’s free of charge and we will be running a tuck shop for refreshments. Everyone welcome (primary age or younger), whichever school you attend!

To support our OPAL programme, we needed somewhere to keep all of the “loose parts” that the children play with. Thanks to the generosity of the grandparent of three previous pupils, we now have a brand new, HUGE shed and the children can easily collect and return items themselves. This has helped children make more independent choices about their play and be better at tidying away!

We have a new, GIANT sandpit for children to use for playing. It took a whole weekend on a digger for some kind parents ...

We have a new, GIANT sandpit for children to use for playing. It took a whole weekend on a digger for some kind parents to dig out and line the space, and then it was filled with 50 tons of beautiful white sand (generously donated in memory of the grandparents of two past pupils). At the moment, we are enjoying digging and making sandcastles, but the sandpit is big enough that we will be able to play beach volleyball!

On Thursday 14th July Miss Green and Coach Joe took two mixed Year 3/4 teams to Peppard for the annual rounders tournament.

Both teams played brilliantly and showed fantastic teamwork, so much so that the whole competition came down to the final match: a decider between our two teams which ended with our 'A' team being crowned as champions! As usual, a more detailed report can be found on our school website.

Thanks to our squad of parents and puppy Tino for cheering us on during a morning of great individual and team performances!
