📚✍🏼 Literacy Week ✍🏼📚

This week we have covered Literacy as our learning focus in celebration of International Literacy Day on Tuesday. We have had lots of fun discovering some of our favourite books and stories, looking at our story sacks using our props and getting involved with interactive story time, learning about the authors and illustrators and using our mark making skills to form familiar letters. Teaching literacy in the early years provides children with a strong foundation for communication, learning and future development.

This week we have also….
🩵 read lots of stories including our brand new arrival Gruffalo Granny, Old McDonald, Owl Babies, Little Red Riding Hood
💛 taken a couple of trips to the field, exploring nature, finding sticks, conkers and spotted some berries growing
💚 lots of outdoor play in our garden, making potions, going down the slide and using our ride on vehicles
💙 had our first dance class with Millie, using our shakers to fast and slow music, balancing and actions to songs
🩷 lots of show and tell, talking about past events from our summer holidays
🧡 made play dough following our recipe, using our mathematical knowledge
💜 baked blackberry crumble using familiar ingredients
