A look back at our Centenary Community Festival Alumni Activities! ๐
Across the Centenary Community Festival weekend, as part of our centenary celebrations, we were delighted to host a range of alumni activities - including an alumni lunch reception, alumni quiz, afternoon tea and UoR history lecture- where our alumni came together to celebrate University of Reading in its special centenary year! ๐๐
We were delighted to see over seven decades of University of Reading graduates represented across the events, with some alumni having graduated in 1959, right the way through to those who graduated just last year.
The weekend was full of wonderful conversations, story-swapping, laughter and connection. We were thrilled to witness a serendipitous reunion between friends who had not seen each other for many years! Consider our hearts firmly warmed! โค๏ธ
A big thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope you enjoyed reflecting on your time at Reading, making new friends and taking a trip down memory lane.
If you were unable to join us or are not receiving our emails, please be sure to update your details so you don't miss out on any future events ๐https://rdg.ac/update-your-details.
You can join in the celebrations from home ๐ by adding your message to our Centenary Wall of Wishes โจ - https://rdg.ac/WallofWishes (take a look at the wall so far โก https://rdg.ac/4rEpdjt)

Recognising the impact of Councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles' tenure as The Mayor of Reading โ as her outstanding term of service to our town and community comes to an end.
As both an alumna and colleague of the University of Reading, Dr Alice Mpofu-Colesโ mayoralty has held particular significance during our centenary year, reflecting the deep connection between the University and the wider community we serve.
As a passionate advocate for inclusion, community partnership and the role universities can play in civic life, her work has championed sanctuary initiatives and helped strengthen the Universityโs presence across Reading.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, said: โAs we strive to be a truly civic university, relationships like these are crucial in building stronger ties between the town and University, enabling us to work together and create a better Reading for everyone.โ
Thank you, Alice, for your leadership, partnership and commitment to our town.
We look forward to continuing to work together in the years ahead.

It's a building that often splits opinion. But love it or hate it, the Grade II listed URS Building is an iconic landmark at the heart of our award-winning Whiteknights campus.
Originally home to the Faculty of Urban and Regional Studies, it became a familiar backdrop to student life, lectures, late-night deadlines and countless campus photos. And for many, due to its brutalist design, it will forever be lovingly known as the 'Lego Building'.
Now, in our centenary year, we're delighted that a new chapter is beginning.
Construction is underway on a major redevelopment that will transform URS into a modern academic hub with sustainable teaching spaces, specialist facilities and improved student study areas, bringing one of the institution's most iconic buildings back to life for the next generation.
The project reflects something bigger about Readingโs history and future. Preserving what matters, while continuing to invest in the spaces, ideas and communities that shape life on campus.
