Getting confused between college and university?

In the USA, students go to “high school” about the same age as we in the UK go to ”college”, although high school starts earlier

Then it gets more confusing! What they call “college”, we call “university!”

What’s the answer?

Love is non-countable.

“I have so much love for you.”

Crisps are countable.

“Can I have a crisp?”

Business can be countable or non-countable.

“PepsiCo, Coca Cola and Nestle are examples of 3 multi-national businesses.” (Countable)

“What I do on the weekend is none of your business.” (Non-countable)

Plurals in English are easy. Just add an S on the end… right?

Well what if the word already ends with S? Then we add -es

And if it ends with a Y? Then we change the Y to an I and add -es

Then there are the irregular plurals that have no rule but you just have to learn

These three little words can cause a lot of confusion amongst English learners

They’re used in a variety of situations and for a variety of functions

There are always exceptions, but here is a general rule to help you if you’re ever unsure

Lessons are the best way to learn a particular grammar point, vocabulary or function for the language

But all this is for nothing if you don’t practice what you’ve learnt
