๐ŸฅŠ1 GOLD ๐Ÿฅ‡ & 1 BRONZE ๐Ÿฅ‰ FOR ACADEMY READING! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸฅŠ

A long but incredibly rewarding day at the Muay Thai GB / WBC British Championships, with two STMA STMA - Shaolin Tigers Martial Arts Academy Reading stepping into the ring โ€” and both coming away with medals! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿฅ‰ TAHIR ALI โ€“ SENIOR BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
18+ | 60โ€“63.5kg

Tahir battled his way through to the Semi-Finals of the Senior British Championships, taking on a highly experienced opponent who was representing the British Armed Forces.

Tahir came incredibly close to a stoppage, dropping his opponent with a perfectly placed knee to the body in the second round. Unfortunately, he couldn't find the same opening again as his opponent showed great experience and composure.

A fantastic performance from Tahir, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience and is already looking forward to getting back in the ring! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฅ‰

๐Ÿฅ‡ JIMMY STEVENSON โ€“ JUNIOR BRITISH CHAMPION!
12โ€“13 years | 37โ€“39kg

Another incredible tournament for Jimmy! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In the quarter-final, Jimmy defeated Bryan Alderson from Phoenix Muay Thai, coming very close to a stoppage in the first round after landing a series of highly effective long-range knees.

In the Semi-Final, Jimmy faced Sami Chudasama from Prestige Combat Academy, progressing to the final after another dominant performance featuring a barrage of low kicks and knees. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

In the Final, Jimmy faced Reggie Smee from our good friends at Jonas Academy. Jimmy and Reggie are great friends and neither really wanted to fight each other โ€” but when you step through those ropes, business is business! ๐ŸฅŠ

Jimmy came away with the GOLD MEDAL and British Championship title! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ†

Massive respect to Reggie, his coach Jody Jonas & everyone at the Jonas Academy. This was two young fighters who in again showed tremendous respect for each other before, during and after the fight. ๐Ÿ‘Šโค๏ธ

Jimmy has now also qualified for WBC GB Squad Training at Bad Company, giving him the opportunity to work towards representing Great Britain internationally once again, this time under the WBC banner! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐ŸŒ

Two fighters. Two medals. One incredible day for STMA. ๐Ÿ…

โ€ผ๏ธ 1 YEAR AGO TODAY โ€ผ๏ธ ๐Ÿฅ‹

One year ago today, I was incredibly proud and honoured to receive my 5th Dan Black Belt from the founder of Shaolin TIgers Martial Arts (STMA), Sifu Frank Bowen-Aquilina.

After 30 years of continuous training with STMA/Shaolin Tigers, achieving my 5th Dan was a very special milestone and one that I feel extremely privileged to have reached.

But the journey never ends. ๐Ÿฅ‹

As a martial artist, you never stop learning, improving and developing โ€” regardless of your rank or experience. There is always another lesson to learn, another challenge to overcome and another level to reach.

30 years downโ€ฆ and the journey continues. ๐Ÿ…
