🚲Cycling🚲

Cycling on the is part of daily life for us, even while away visiting friends and family the bike comes with. Little D accidentally put his foot in some water when we stopped to see some ducks. So cycling barefoot back to the car was the only option seeing as he wouldn’t keep his soggy shoes on!

Luckily he’s a competent cyclist so isn’t wobbly so the feet were barely on the ground - although barefoot walking is fab for them!

His comes along for all of our adventures and is a key part of our family memory moments. Now to figure out the best way at to get the bigger bikes transported easier as our bike rack that mounts on the boot is a bit awkward! Recommendations for transporting bikes are warmly received please!

💀👻 Halloween in January👻💀

Little D adores Halloween and has requested a Halloween party for his birthday, but the party isn’t for quite a few weeks. So we’ve set up a little party with some of his fave toys and also added some Poms Poms and ghosts to the Xmas tree to make it more D and less Xmas!

It’s these little moments he will remember and Halloween is a part of his journey through life and has been so prominent on his year (he was waiting and asking for Halloween since March) . We feel it’s important to treasure these little parts of him that make him who he is. Our skeleton onesie wearing, all things spooky loving nearly 3 yr old!

What are/were your little ones in to at 3? 💙

🚲🌞Sunny Cycling🌞🚲

Those early morning or late afternoon autumn cycle rides. The sun is beautiful and blinding at the same time. Our littlest of riders wears his glasses and helmet to help with those sunny cycles. Once the sun begins to go down he’s easy to spot in his bright helmet too!

Happy 8th Birthday to our biggest boy! We love you so much and we are incredibly proud of you. Your dedication, perseverance, courage and kindness are just a few of so many wonderful things about you. Keep chasing your dreams and spreading love and kindness. The best big brother around with the patience of a saint!

A day filled with football, aqua splash, bike rides and fajitas! What better way to celebrate! 💙

📸🛴Scooting🛴📸

It’s today and we thought we’d share these awesome shots of D at . It’s scooter friendly there and we took his scooter to explore around the lake. The bigger wheels on his cruiser scooter made it much more accessible when we went a bit off track into the more uneven surfaces.

D stopped at this point and said “it’s beautiful let’s take a photo here!” So we did, he’s not so much a fan of the photos these days so it was a great opportunity to capture him with 2 things he loves - scooting and nature!

Loved spending time with the boys and having the biggest one off school - I honestly will feel so sad when he goes back, spending time with him brings me so much joy.

🚲Summer Cycling Days🚲

Spending so much of the summer cycling and being out in nature. We took a little trip (update to come!) to and top tip would be to take balance bikes and scooters!

Littlest D enjoyed making his way around the park on his balance bike and stopping to play, climb and explore in nature.

We are taking part in so make sure to head over to check it out! It’s a great time to get out on bikes and get active!

🌈Calming Joys of Grimms Play🌈

It’s been a while since our oldest D has had time to really play and explore with his toys. It really isn’t that they out grow toys so soon, it’s that school takes up so much of their time (and in some cases dampen their imagination). I’m so looking forward to having D home for the summer….. time to be, time to play, time to learn and explore together!

Littlest D and Oldest D made this ball run together (a 2yr old and a nearly 8yr old collaboratively exploring!). Now don’t get me wrong the little one knocked it down a few times but that just helped fuel Mr 7’s resilience.

Do you find school holidays are prime play times? It’s just so sad that this is what childhood is becoming…..?

Bring back play!

👨🏻‍🍳Play Kitchen👨🏻‍🍳

We are well and truly in our play kitchen era in this house. Littlest D (aged 2) loves cooking, baking and making picnics for his Dinkums . The Owl & Fox Play kitchen set is brilliant. Perfect size and height, great matching accessories and fun little k***s to turn too.

Did you know role play kitchens/cooking opportunities are brilliant for development?

🧠stimulates imagination and creativity
✍🏻Develops motor skills through tipping, stirring, twisting k***s etc.
🗣️language development
👥social and emotional development - taking turns, sharing, learning social skills
🌏Under standing the world around them (re enacting familiar scenes and routines)
🧠 aids cognitive development through problem solving, decision making and applying already learned knowledge in play.

It’s such a fab resource for play and learning to have in your home and early years setting.

🚲🐸Biking in Nature🐸🚲

We took a little ride through today and paused when we wanted to play and explore in nature, including a stop to look for some frogs on the lily pads. Frog bike ride to see frogs 🐸 🥰. He cycled around for 2hrs!

Biking has become our main mode of transport recently and he’s off and away cruising along, lifting his legs and balancing like a dream! tadpole balance bike has been a great bike to learn on - it’s light, easy to steer and also has a brake (our next step to learning to stop without dragging our feet!)

What are your go to bike places with toddlers?
