I’m incredibly excited to announce that Self Defence Combat Academy, Reading’s number one self defence school, is opening a brand new location at The Space Hub in Woodley! 🥋💙

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

I’ve spent months looking for the right venue because I didn’t just want another training hall. I wanted the right place to give local children the very best self defence training in a safe, welcoming environment.

I wish I had someone like me when I was younger.

Not because I needed someone to fight my battles.

But because I needed someone to believe in me.

Someone to tell me…

“You’re stronger than you think.”

“Don’t let fear decide your future.”

“Everything you’re going through right now won’t last forever.”

As a child, I didn’t need another critic.

I needed a mentor.

Someone who would build my confidence, teach me resilience and show me that being strong isn’t about hurting people… it’s about knowing you can protect yourself and the people you love.

Today, I get to be that person for hundreds of children.

Every class is another opportunity to give a child what I wish I’d had growing up.

If I could speak to that younger version of myself standing beside me…

I’d put my arm around him and simply say:

“Keep going, mate. One day you’ll become the person you’ve been looking for all along.” 💙👊

Sometimes life comes full circle.

And that’s a pretty special feeling.

I'm looking for a videographer to help me create content for Self Defence Combat Academy. 🎥👊

You don't need to be a professional or have years of experience. In fact, you don't even need to be an editor.

I'm simply looking for someone with a good eye, a steady hand and some basic filming skills to help capture training sessions, short social media videos and other content.

This would be ideal for:
• A student looking to build a portfolio
• Someone starting out in videography
• A freelancer looking for extra work
• Anyone who enjoys filming and wants to gain more experience

I'm looking for someone reliable, creative and local to the Reading area.

Watching your confidence, discipline and self defence skills grow over the past few months has been amazing. Today you all showed great determination, effort and a fantastic attitude. Every one of you should be proud of what you’ve achieved.

A huge congratulations to A***n, who was awarded our Student of the Day certificate. 🏆 Your hard work and commitment really stood out today. Well deserved!

I’d also like to give a special shout out to my Black Belts, Josh and Mark. It’s been fantastic watching you both develop your teaching skills and become positive role models for the younger members of SDCA. The future is looking bright! 👊
