This year, as part of a project within the English Language department, we have had students conducting Academic Placements at HMP Huntercombe, a foreign national prison in Oxfordshire.

Yesterday we were invited back to the prison to celebrate the success of prisoners who have improved their English skills, as well as the students who created resources and improved communication within the prison.

We couldn't take photos inside, but wanted to show that you really can go anywhere to conduct an Academic Placement, as long as you can link it to one of your modules!

It was great to welcome the ladies from Reading Community Learning Centre to the University last week to visit the Language for Resilience exhibition in our library.

Students on our Language and Migration module have been conducting Academic Placements as part of the exhibition and acted as guides during the day.

Some of our brilliant students will now also be acting as classroom assistants at RCLC in the near future.
