To the parents navigating EBSA tonight... we see you.

🤍Sunday nights can feel incredibly heavy, lonely, and overwhelming - especially if you are a parent supporting a child experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

While the rest of the world talks about packing school bags, your evening might look completely different. It might look like managing deep anxiety, soothing a distressed child, or staring at the ceiling wondering how tomorrow morning will go.

We want to send a gentle reminder to your feed tonight:✨ You are not failing.✨ Your child is not broken.✨ This journey is incredibly hard, but you are doing an amazing job. At S&B Shared Steps, our core values are clarity, kindness, and practical, human support. We know that when a child is struggling, the emotional pressure on the parents multiplies. You spend so much time holding it together for everyone else that you completely forget to look after yourself. We are here to walk beside you. We aren't here to judge or offer unsolicited advice. We are simply here to offer a supportive presence - being a friendly face to help you find a bit of calm amidst the worry. You don’t have to carry the emotional weight alone.

Take a deep breath tonight. Lower the pressure. Your peace of mind and your child's safety are what matters most.

If you are awake and scrolling, drop a ❤️ in the comments to send a little silent solidarity to other parents tonight. No captions or explanations needed. Just a virtual hug. 🫂

Understanding Task Paralysis:

Task paralysis is a very real challenge, but it is one that we don't have to navigate alone.

Often, identifying and understanding these struggles in our children can act as a mirror - revealing the exact same hurdles we grapple with ourselves as parents and adults. I know this firsthand, because I am that parent too!

By recognising this connection, we can build shared strategies, foster a more empathetic home environment, and take positive steps forward together. As an ADHD coach, I work with families to break down these overwhelming blocks, providing practical tools and compassionate support tailored for both you and your child.

As specialist educators, we confess: we have a massive soft spot for board games! But we don't just love them because they're fun - we love them because they are incredible secret weapons for child development.

Beyond the reading and the math, sitting down around a table to play a game explicitly builds:

Brain flexibility (adjusting when plans change!) ..

Social navigation and taking turns ..

Resilience (learning how to lose, and how to win gracefully!) ..

In a world that is increasingly digital, those face-to-face, interactive moments are where real confidence and independence grow. That’s why we weave active, hands-on engagement into our sessions, too.

Help us build our ultimate learning games shelf! What was your absolute favorite board game growing up, or the one your family can't live without right now?

Welcome to the Next Chapter: Introducing S&B Shared Steps!

To my wonderful families, long-standing clients, and local friends, for over 15 years, I have had the absolute privilege of running Inspire Tutoring (Inspire), supporting bright, neurodivergent learners and their families across many communities - helping them navigate school anxiety, master their studies, and build unshakeable confidence.

It has been a deeply rewarding journey, but as education and child development evolve, so must we! I am incredibly excited to announce that I have officially expanded, upgraded, and rebranded into S&B Shared Steps - starting fresh right here on this brand-new page!

The Story Behind The New Name

S&B Shared Steps is a true family venture. I am overjoyed to be officially teaming up with a very special new business partner: my daughter, Beth! As a mother-daughter team, we believe that a child’s developmental journey is a series of steps - and no family should ever have to walk them alone.

By combining our unique professional skill sets and our own lived experiences we are expanding our mission to provide a truly holistic, lifelong support model for families, spanning from infancy all the way into adulthood.

Here is what Shared Steps brings to our community:

👣 Therapeutic Neurodivergent Support & Specialist Tuition: Continuing my dedicated 1:1 work for students (ASD/ADHD/Dyslexia). Explicitly combining academic tuition and executive functioning coaching with therapeutic anxiety management - teaching the brain how to learn while fully supporting their emotional well-being.

👣 Specialised Early Years & Baby Support: Providing expert, gentle, and specialised developmental support for babies and infants, guiding parents through those vital early steps with confidence and peace of mind.

👣 SEND Advocacy: Continuing to act as a lead advocate for families navigating complex educational frameworks, school meetings, and EHCP pathways.

The look might be new, and this page might be fresh, but our core values remain exactly the same: a deep commitment to treating every child as an individual, lowering their anxiety, and unlocking their true potential.

We would be incredibly grateful if you could Like, Follow, and Share this new page to help us spread the word to families - and schools - who might need our support.

Thank you for walking these steps with us!

Warmest wishes,

Sam & Beth Founders of S&B Shared Steps
