Stable Futures- Amegreen

There has been so much varied learning happening at Stable Futures over the past week, with plenty of opportunities to build skills that have a real purpose beyond the classroom. 💚

In Animal Care, learners explored worming protocols, land management and vaccinations through practical, hands on learning. Personal Finance focused on saving, borrowing, making informed choices and keeping financial information safe, while preparing a lunch for older members of the local community created opportunities to practise teamwork, responsibility and communication.

Over at the Paddock, learning continued outdoors through creative AQA work, communication activities and caring for the local environment through magnet fishing.

From animal care and financial awareness to creativity, communication and community involvement, it has been a week full of meaningful experiences supporting confidence, independence and practical skills for the future.

Last week, to mark World Heart Day, our learners explored how the heart works and why looking after it is so important through a mix of creative and practical activities. ❤️

They created healthy heart models using clay and made their own 3D paper plate hearts from visual instructions, practising listening, new vocabulary, sequencing and following instructions along the way.

The activities also supported fine motor skills, independence and confidence, with plenty of lovely finished creations to be proud of. 😊

A campaign to plan, a message to share and a budget to manage. 📣

Our City & Guilds learners put their English, maths and teamwork skills into practice through a campaign supporting the suffragette movement. They planned how to share their message with the community, used comprehension skills to respond to challenging press questions and managed a budget for their campaign resources.

Everyone seemed to be having a great time, including one of our goats, who was particularly keen to get involved in the photoshoot. 🐐😛

It’s been a busy autumnal week at Stable Futures, with plenty of creativity, practical learning and achievements to celebrate. 🍂

Our learners have been getting creative with pumpkin artwork, progressing with their Equine Care AQA work and working together on our entry for the local scarecrow competition. We also had the pleasure of celebrating two young people with achievement certificates for their hard work. 🏆🐴

The week ended with a Macmillan Coffee Morning themed lunch, bringing everyone together over food and cake while encouraging conversations about community and giving back.

A new term means new learning, new routines and plenty of hands on experiences… Learners across Juniper and Stable Futures have started the term by focusing on Safety Around Animals, building practical skills and knowledge while working towards their ASDAN Small Animal Accreditation. 🐾

At Juniper Acres, learners have been helping our new Kune Kune piglets, Barney, Bella and Bea, settle in, as well as creating a new home for our Giant African Land Snails.

At Stable Futures, they have been learning about farm safety, emergency procedures and caring for the animals’ environment.

A brilliant start to the term, with growing confidence, responsibility and plenty of animal cuddles along the way. 💚

Three years, a new role and an exciting award nomination. There’s plenty to celebrate for Martha! 🎉💙

Martha has stepped into her new role as Animal Care Manager, celebrated 3 years with Stable Futures, and has also been entered into the RDA Coaching Awards in recognition of the work she does with our young people and learners throughout the year.

We’re incredibly proud of everything she brings to Stable Futures and so pleased to see her hard work recognised in this way. The winners will be announced in November, so fingers crossed!🤞🏻
