Crossbones garden of remembrance- graveyard to the 'outcasts'.
The skull, made from pennies, is a recreation of a genuine skull that had belonged 16 year old found buried in the forgotten burial plot for outcasts. This poor girl had third-stage syphilis, meaning she'd been infected for at least 6 years.
Crossbones truly is a hidden beauty, a tiny garden with lovely sitting spots, a little passage, a small pond, and a lot of hand crafted memorial pieces made especially or kindly donated to remember those long gone.
God help the outcasts ❤️

Did you know that prior to their marriage, Prince Arthur Tudor and Catherine of Aragon exchanged 'love letters'? One of Arthur's has survived. Written in Latin, this translation is created to historian Mary Anne Everette Green.
Rather than straight from the heart, historians generally agree that Arthur's letters were strategically written, with assistance or dictated by his Royal tutors and secretaries. These letters weren't earnest, rather they were performative.
These letters can not tell us how Arthur truly felt about his impending marriage and future bride, but it does give incite into Arthur's role as the politically selected bride-groom.

(I know this post will be polarising... But it caught your attention and you were either introduced to a new historical person or reminded) Are you familiar with The Public Universal Friend? or simply 'Friend'. Friend is an interesting 18th century case of someone identifying as neither gender. And did you know Friend advocated for the abolishment of slavery? What about that women had leadership roles in Friend's community?
