🚢 Engineering in Action on the River Thames! 🏗️

Our KS4 Design & Technology, Engineering and Construction students took learning beyond the classroom with a fantastic trip aboard the historic paddle steamer Waverley, sailing from Southend Pier to Tower Bridge and back.

As part of this valued annual trip, students had the opportunity to see engineering in action, from Waverley’s steam-powered engines and paddle-wheel technology to the impressive bridges, buildings and infrastructure lining the River Thames.

Along the way, they explored how design, materials and construction shape the world around us, making valuable connections between classroom learning and real-world engineering.

👏 A brilliant day of discovery, learning and spectacular London views. And a special thank you to all the staff and students who represented FitzWimarc so well on this trip.

⚽ National Cup Football vs Emerson – 10-0 win
⚽ U16 Essex Cup vs Appleton – 1-0 win
🏐 Year 9 & Senior Netball vs Greensward: • U16s won 52-25 • U14s won 40-13

🎉 A special congratulations to our U14 and U16 Netball teams, who were crowned East Essex National Schools Netball champions and have both qualified for the Regional Finals on 6th February. We wish them the very best of luck! 🍀🏐

🏉 U16 National Cup Rugby v New Hall – Drew 24–24
⚽ Year 8 National Cup Football v Sanders – Won 4–3
⚽ Year 7 A/B/C Football v Appleton – The A Team secured a fantastic 6–0 league win, with the B and C teams also in action in friendly fixtures.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night. We had a fantastic evening welcoming you to FitzWimarc and sharing how we provide Ambition & Opportunity for All to every student.

🗣 What was your favourite room, lesson or experience from the evening?

🌟 A special thank you to our incredible staff, who rose to the occasion and truly showcased the heart of FitzWimarc. Your enthusiasm, passion and commitment helped bring our school to life for our visitors.

🌟 Well done to all of our fantastic student guides, who led tours across the school throughout the evening. A particular thank you to our Year 7 students, who confidently shared their experiences of FitzWimarc while still finding their own feet!
