🌿 A Little Time Just for You… 🌿

Being a parent carer can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be exhausting. We spend so much of our time supporting others that we often forget to make time for ourselves.

Join us on Friday 3rd July from 6pm for an evening of creativity, connection and self-care. Whether you’d like to try a new craft, enjoy a brew, have a chat with others who understand, or simply take a moment to breathe, this evening is for you.

For just £10 per person, you’ll have access to a selection of creative activities and a drink of your choice in a relaxed, welcoming environment. No experience is needed – just come as you are.

At Spectrum of Light Rossendale CIC, we know the challenges that can come with caring for a neurodivergent child or young person. This event is about giving you the opportunity to switch off for a while, meet other parent carers, and leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.

Tomorrow night 8th May

🌟 A little update about our sessions… 🌟

We’ve made a small change to our early session — it’s now a Family Social Session 💚

This change has come directly from listening to you.

We know many of our families have younger siblings and younger children, and we want to make sure everyone feels included, not left out.

We also understand how important it is to have a space where the whole family can come together, without the stress of splitting time or making difficult choices.

💚 So we’ve adapted.

💚 We’ve listened.

💚 And we’re always learning.

This session will now be a more relaxed, inclusive space for young people and their families to connect, spend time together and just be.

As always, we’ll trial this and see how it goes, and your feedback will continue to shape what we do next — because this is your space just as much as ours 💚

🌷🪻🌻The SEND Spring Festival is a fun, relaxed, and supportive event designed specifically for children with special educational needs and disabilities, at any stage of diagnosis.

Families are invited to come along and enjoy a variety of engaging activities, including sensory play, messy play, crafts, food-based activities, and interactive games, all planned to support children’s individual needs and interests.

📍The event takes place on Tuesday 28th May, 2–4pm, at Maden Family Hub, Rochdale Road, OL13 8NZ. It is suitable for children aged 2–11 years with SEND, accompanied by a parent or carer. Places are bookable in advance, and enquiries can be made via [email protected].

🌿☘️🍀🪵This relaxed and engaging Dig, Plant and Play Family Fun Day invites families to enjoy time together through practical, nature-inspired activities designed to support children’s curiosity, creativity, and development. Children and their parents/carers will have opportunities to dig, plant, explore, and play, encouraging learning through hands-on experiences and shared fun. The session supports early development, communication, confidence, and positive family relationships in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

📍Taking place on Tuesday 26th May 2026, 2–4pm, the event will be held at Rawtenstall Family Hub and The Zone, Burnley Road, BB4 8EW.

'Inappropriate' means different things to different people, what is acceptable for one age group may be unsuitable for another ❌

Online young people can come across inappropriate content in various ways:

social media - age-inappropriate content is easily accessible through social media platforms - some social media users express hate speech, promote eating disorders and self harm which could cause long lasting damage to a child's emotional and mental health ❌

gaming - gaming is an enjoyable source of entertainment but many popular titles can expose children to inappropriate material such as violence, horror, gambling or sexually explicit content -playing games unsuitable for their age risks normalising to children what they are seeing ❌

streaming - the range of video streaming services available online means that users can find almost anything they want to watch on demand - children are therefore at risk of viewing TV shows and movies which contain nudity, drug and alcohol abuse, explicit language and extreme violence ❌

adverts - online adverts frequently include age-inappropriate content ❌

Barnoldswick Library have a friendly SEN group every Saturday from 10-12.

It's a perfect space for those families who prefer a quieter library environment. There will be activities such as games, LEGO and a sensory tent on offer, as well as information on neurodiversity available for both adults and children.
