As part of the curriculum, Fatimah Rafeeq is completing her week at St. Paul’s Primary School is located next to the sixth form.

Here she has been helping pupils in Year 3 with their reading and literacy skills, a fundamental aspect of a child’s education! She has also been supporting all the children in all subject areas.

She told us: “I’ve enjoyed experiencing cavemen painting in the Forest School.”

Fatimah’s dream is to go into dentistry however after this week she is also considering primary school teaching. She’s learnt that keeping future options open has given her a clearer insight into the future.

Year 12 student Lalita Hargreaves is completing her work experience week with Safran Nacelles in Burnley doing manufacturing, assembly and design of aircraft parts.

The work experience Lalita is completing coincides well with the A level subjects she is taking as well as the career path she aspires to.

Gaining transferable skills for a future career was an important part of work experience for her.

Lalita told us: “I’m really enjoying learning to apply my academic knowledge with real life situations.”

Work experience is a brilliant opportunity that AG6 knows is useful for students to map out their career path. If you haven’t already enrolled for September 2022 - IT’S NOT TOO LATE please get in touch now!

Josh Topping is using his week’s worth of work experience to assist with the design of underground cable schemes with the company EDES, based in Salford.

Josh, who wants to join the police, has chosen this line of work to give him experience of proofreading reports, which is also relevant to studying English Language at A level.

He wanted to gain a more detailed perspective on how companies can work effectively when being stuck with problems and, so far, has learnt that no two days are the same.

Josh told us: “I’m currently enjoying all aspects of the role because it is a mix of being outside visiting different cable lines and then reporting back to computer-based office work.”

For any future students planning their placements, Josh has said that any form of work experience is a beneficial experience as it allows you to learn new skills and gauge an insight into the future.

Freya Edwards is spending her week’s work experience with Viva PR in Rawtenstall.
She told us that the company appealed to her as they provide a great insight into the world of PR and media, an industry she wanted to gain experience in.

Freya's hoping to gain experiences including managing social media accounts and working with a variety of clients, this week.

She said: "I'm really enjoying working within this environment and understanding the way things work to give me knowledge and experience for future opportunities."

AG6 understands the importance of providing opportunities for their students to open their eyes to the working world, something that has been popular among students this year!

It's not too late to enrol for your place at AG6 this September: get in touch to find out more [email protected]
