The Great British Gingerbread Bake Off… Adventure Playschool edition! 🍪🍂

Our little bakers got busy in the kitchen making delicious gingerbread biscuits.. and of course, we had to give them an autumnal twist! 🍁✨

Leaf-shaped gingerbread, lots of mixing, rolling, cutting… and just a little bit of taste testing along the way! 😂

There may not have been a Hollywood handshake, but there were plenty of happy faces and some seriously impressive bakes👩‍🍳💛

And the star baker is… EVERYONE! ⭐

Mud, messy hands & BIG imaginations! 🤎✨

The children had a muddy marvellous time mixing colours, painting themselves and creating their very own handprints. 🖐️🎨

A little dirt, lots of giggles and plenty of creativity! 🌈🤎

Our woodland adventures took us to the churchyard, where we became nature detectives! 🔎🍂

We enjoyed sharing Spike’s Best Nest together before heading off to see what we could discover. The children spotted bird nests and nesting boxes, talked about what birds might use them for, and explored the different natural materials birds collect to build their homes. 🪹🐦

Then it was our turn! Using sticks, leaves, twigs and other treasures we found around us, the children worked together to build their very own cosy bird nests. 🌿🪵🍁

Getting to know our feathered friends!🧡

As we settle into the new term, we’re spending lots of time helping the children learn how to care for our chickens. From filling their food and water, helping to keep their space clean and tidy and collecting their eggs, we are learning that caring for animals comes with responsibility.

We’re focusing on being calm and gentle around our chickens, learning how to approach them safely and becoming more confident and comfortable handling and spending time with them.

It’s a lovely opportunity to understand where our food comes from, develop respect and empathy for living things and take pride in looking after the animals that are part of our playschool family. 🌿🐔🥚

We’re going on a barefoot bear hunt! 🐻👣

Our little adventurers used their feet to investigate a whole range of textures.. from rough bark and soft grass to squishy shaving foam, bubbly bubble wrap and cool water.

A barefoot experience like this is helping to support our sensory development, body awareness and balance, while encouraging everyone to notice, compare and describe how different the surfaces feel. We had so much fun recalling our story ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ along the way! 🐻
