🎨 There were even more surprises waiting for the children when they came back to school! 🐝

As well as all our new wall art, our playground has had a bit of a transformation too!

We’ve added lots of colourful new playground markings, including hopscotch, snakes and ladders, number games and a huge times-table grid. They’re designed to give children even more ways to play together, keep active and, without even realising it, practise some of their maths too! ➕✖️🌈

🚲 We’ve also had a brand-new bike and scooter track painted onto the playground, complete with roads, junctions, roundabouts and road markings. We’re looking forward to putting this to good use and helping our children develop their cycling and road-safety skills.

It’s been lovely watching the children discover all the changes today – we think our playground is looking rather fabulous! 💙🐝

⚽ Have you spotted our new banner at Ramsgate Football Club?

If any of our families find the banner and take a photograph of it, the child will receive 5 Dojo points!

Please send your photographs to Mrs Mountjoy via ClassDojo. We cannot wait to see who spots it first! 💚

✨ Have your children told you about our new look yet? ✨

There was a bit of a surprise waiting for the children when they returned to St Laurence… 👀

Over the summer, we’ve been busy transforming some of the walls and spaces around our school with some fantastic new artwork!

The children will have already started spotting:

🌍 Our enormous world map, ready to inspire curiosity about the wider world
📚 A spectacular reading wall featuring lots of familiar favourites
🕰️ A timeline stretching through history
🌿 A rainforest corridor bringing a little bit of the jungle to St Laurence
🌈 Our ‘Possibilities are Endless’ wall, encouraging our children to dream big about their futures
🍎 A bright new look for our school kitchen
🐑 And taking pride of place in our hall, the Parable of the Lost Sheep, which sits at the heart of our school vision: Seen • Known • Loved ❤️

We wanted to make our school environment even more exciting and inspiring for our children, with walls that don’t just look wonderful but encourage curiosity, celebrate learning and raise aspirations.

The reaction from the children has been absolutely lovely! 🥰 We thought we’d share a few photographs so that parents and families can have a peek too.

You might want to ask your child which one they spotted first – and which is their favourite! 🐝💙

💚 Parent Governors — we need you!

Are you a parent or carer at St Laurence who would like to help shape our school’s future?

We’re looking for Parent Governors who care about our children and want to make a difference. You don’t need previous experience — training and support will be provided. Your ideas, experience and willingness to get involved are what matter.

You’ll work alongside other governors and school leaders to support and challenge the school, helping us do the best we can for all our children.

Interested, or just want to find out more? Please speak to the School Office for a nomination form or an informal chat with the Headteacher or Chair of Governors.

It's been wonderful to have our school full of children again! 💚

The start of a new school year brings something different for everyone. For our new Year 3 children, it means getting used to a whole new school, new routines and lots of new faces. For our returning Year 4, 5 and 6 children, it means a new classroom, a new year group, different expectations and another year of growing and learning.

However long a child has been part of St Laurence, the first few weeks are about reconnecting, settling in and finding their feet.

💚 We take time to get to know our children – not just how they learn, but their personalities, interests, strengths and the things that help them feel safe, happy and ready for the day.

🌱 We know that children settle at different speeds. Familiar routines, trusted adults and strong relationships help everyone feel secure and ready to learn.

And for our older children, there is an important role too. They help show our newest members what it means to be part of St Laurence – welcoming them, setting an example and helping them feel that they belong.

Whether a child walked through our gates for the very first time this September or returned for another year with us, we want every one of them to know that they matter here.

Seen – Known – Loved. 💚

Here’s to a happy year ahead at St Laurence!

🌟 More flexibility for our families! 🌟

We’re pleased to let parents know that we are now offering two options for our after-school Wraparound Care. 🐝

🕓 3.20–4.30 – £4.00
🌙 3.20–5.45 – £7.50, including a light meal

We hope that offering a choice of collection times will make things a little easier for families and provide greater flexibility around work and other commitments.

Both options are now available to book through the My Child At School app. Simply head to the main dashboard and select ‘Wraparound Care’. 📱

We’re really pleased to be able to extend our provision and offer our families more choice. 💙

🚂 Train Toys & Books Needed! 🚂

We’re on the lookout for any train-related toys or books that families might be happy to donate to school.

If you’re having a clear-out and have any toy trains, train sets, tracks or children’s books about trains that are no longer being used, we would be very grateful to give them a new home! 🚆📚

Donations can be dropped off at the school office.

Thank you, as always, for your support! 💛🐝

💚 Forgiveness

Forgiveness means learning from our mistakes, showing understanding and giving people the chance to make a fresh start.

Just as the Lost Sheep is welcomed back with love, we believe everyone deserves kindness and another opportunity.
