Francesca Smith - Maths Tutor Maths Teacher and Tutor based in Ramsgate, tutoring online and in person since 2013.

I am a local tutor from Ramsgate, Kent, and have been tutoring almost exclusively Maths since 2013. I have a Maths Degree, and am a qualified Maths teacher, working in a secondary school. I specialise in GCSE Maths, but teach Maths at any level up to A Level including Adult Learners, having previously taught KS2 to A Level, including tutoring for the Common Entrance Exam, 11+, IB, and Numeracy test practice for potential PGCE students. I am available to teach most daytimes, evenings and weekends, but this is, of course dependent on any current tutees I may have, and the distance I need to travel. How much do I love my crazy expressive face? Not a lot when I need a cover for a reel 😂

Just a load of updates on life right now - I've taken on several projects alongside my usual teaching, and they seem to all have hit me at once at the moment, so I'm buried in a book or glued to a screen, typing most of the time, and socials have had to take a back seat!

I will share updates soon, but for now, I'm staying squirreled away in my work! 🐿

A lesson this evening covered ALL the graphs and the ways to tell between them 📈

Little cheat for you: the power of x tells you the number of directions! 🤯

Just wait.

y=mx+c : x has a power of 1, so it's a line

Quadratic graph (x squared): x has a power of 2 so it's a parabola - goes down and back up (or other way round)

Cubic graph (x cubed): power of 3, so has a little wiggle in the middle (3 directions)

Reciprocal graph (1/x etc.) : it's a fraction so the graph is split into the top and bottom
