🎉 OUTSTANDING GCSE RESULTS FOR EVIE! 🎉

We are absolutely thrilled for Evie, who has achieved an incredible set of GCSE results with Grade 8s across the board! 👏

This is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the hard work, determination and commitment Evie has shown.

Evie worked with our brilliant Dr Hanna to strengthen her GCSE Science knowledge and, just as importantly, build her confidence in the subject. Dr Hanna has a wonderful ability to explain challenging concepts clearly, identify exactly where a student needs extra support and help them feel much more secure in their own ability.

And Evie has certainly shown what she is capable of!

Grade 8s across the board is an exceptional achievement, Evie. We are so proud of you! 💙

What a day for Ava and what an achievement!

We are absolutely delighted to share Ava’s fantastic GCSE results. Ava has worked incredibly hard for these results and she deserves every bit of this success.

One of the things we care deeply about at A Star Tuition Group is recognising what an individual student needs to help them fulfil their potential. For Ava, part of that journey was putting the right specialist support around her and giving her the opportunity to work with our wonderful science lead, Dr Hanna.

And what a result! ❤️

Tomorrow is GCSE Results Day.

For every young person opening their results, there is a much bigger story behind those grades: the effort, the setbacks, the breakthroughs, the growing confidence and the moments when they discovered they were capable of more than they thought.

At A Star Tuition Group, we know that no two students learn, respond or progress in exactly the same way. Our programmes are carefully structured, but our teaching is truly personal. We notice where each student needs support, challenge them when they are ready and give individual feedback that helps them move forward.

🤔 “My child is doing really well at school. Do they actually need 11+ preparation?”

It's a question I've been asked many times over the years.

And my answer is:

Being bright certainly helps.

But being bright and being prepared for the 11+ are not quite the same thing.

The 11+ requires children to apply their knowledge in ways they may not routinely encounter at school.

They need to:

🧠 Work out unfamiliar problems
⏱️ Work accurately under time pressure
📚 Have a strong and varied vocabulary
🔍 Spot patterns and relationships
➗ Apply their Maths rather than simply recall a method
📖 Understand increasingly challenging texts
💪 Keep going when they don't immediately know the answer

And that's an important distinction.

Good 11+ preparation isn't about endlessly drilling a bright child with practice papers.

It's about developing the skills they already have and teaching them how to use those skills effectively in a highly competitive entrance exam.

I've seen some incredibly able children over the years who initially find elements of the 11+ difficult.

I've also seen what happens when they are given the right teaching, enough time to develop and the confidence to tackle questions that once stopped them in their tracks. 🌟

That's preparation.

Not cramming.
Not shortcuts.
And certainly not a guarantee handed to you simply because you've hired a tutor.

📚 When should you actually start preparing for the 11+?

It's a question I'm asked all the time.

And my answer might surprise you...

For a child sitting the 11+ in 2027, September isn't too early.

But that doesn't mean spending the next 12 months cramming exam papers - far from it!

Starting earlier gives children something much more valuable: TIME. ⏰

Time to:

⭐ Strengthen their Maths and English foundations
⭐ Build a much wider vocabulary
⭐ Develop verbal reasoning skills
⭐ Learn how to tackle unfamiliar questions
⭐ Build confidence and resilience
⭐ Gradually develop the speed and exam technique they'll eventually need

I've prepared children for the 11+ for over 18 years and one thing I know for certain is that confidence isn't built through last-minute cramming.

It's built through preparation, practice and knowing what to do when a question feels difficult.

That's exactly why I created our 11+ Exam Accelerator Programme.

🚨 One of the biggest misconceptions about hiring a tutor…

As parents, when we're worried about our child's education, we naturally want to find someone who can help.

Maybe it's…

📚 “I want my child to pass the 11+ exam.”
➕ “They need more confidence in Maths.”
🧪 “I'm worried about their GCSE Science.”
🌱 “I just want them to feel more confident.”

So you find a tutor, book the lessons and think…

Great. That's sorted! 🙌

But here's something I think more parents need to hear:

👉 Hiring a tutor doesn't achieve the goal. It creates the opportunity to achieve it.

At A Star Tuition Group, our job isn't to wave a magic wand and somehow make the result happen. 🪄

Our job is to understand your child, identify the gaps, build their confidence, teach them effectively and give them the right strategies and support to move forward.
