Today, on World Mental Health Day, our students have been raising awareness of mental health issues within our school community.

Our Healthcare Science students lead the way, encouraging people to wear yellow and raising money for YoungMinds - a charity supporting young people with mental health issues.

With thanks to Sulis Hospital for supporting our students on their industry work placement! Such a fantastic opportunity.

Two of our Healthcare Science students have the pleasure of attending Sulis Hospital for their industry work placement. They have been attending one day a week and they are at the beginning of their placement journey, with lots more to see and learn.

We continue to celebrate our T Level students for - today the spotlight is on our Healthcare Science students!

On this course, you can expect to learn all about the basics of Healthcare including how to support a patient, taking basic observations and measurements and understanding the structure of Healthcare Services. On top of this, you will learn the practical lab skills and science to support clinical roles.

Our students are also lucky to have such fantastic placements where they can have real Healthcare experience. Our placements include local hospitals, ambulance services and community care services.

Today is the start of

T Levels are a post-16 course, equivalent to 3 A Levels, incorporating a work placement, exams and practical work. We run Healthcare Science, Engineering and Education & Early Years T Level courses.

Over the next few days, we will be celebrating the incredible work our students do, both in school and on their placements.

It's been a big week for our Healthcare Scientists - they've recieved their First Aid certificates and smashed their first few days in their placements!

Our students have beaten the odds and gained access to their chosen next steps with great grades, personal triumphs and true fighting spirit. We take our hats of to them, welcoming back those studying T Levels with us next month and wishing all the best to those taking A levels in Trust schools and those pursuing Vocational routes in local colleges.

Huge thanks to our staff, our students and their parents and carers for their hard work and sustained belief that was needed throughout!

With perfect weather conditions, students were able to enjoy our annual trip to Cheddar Gorge. Of course, the trip wouldn't have been complete without having an ice cream at the end!

Our T Level Healthcare Science students had a mock interview day today in preparation for interviews for their placements, which start imminently.

Students brushed up on interview technique, wrote some answers for common interview questions and then held practice interviews with eachother.

A huge thank you to Mrs Jackson and Ms Robshaw-Smith who delivered sessions to support the students today.

This week, Year 12 Forensic Scientists have been working their way through Unit 2 (Practical Scientific Techniques).

Here, students are pictured carrying out a titration and using their calibrated pH meters to determine if they have made a completely neutral solution.

Our Year 12s are at a Next Steps careers events today. Here they are listening to a talk from Exeter University! Thanks MNSP The Sixth Form for this fantastic opportunity.

This week, Year 10 have been carrying out one of their required practicals for chemistry - making soluble salts from copper oxide and sulfuric acid.

Each of the students made some excellent crystals, proving accuracy in their methods.
