🍁 Introducing you to the Roots Nursery team! 🍁
We love a slo-mo!
🌞 We’ve had a super busy week and it’s only Wednesday! 🌞

We have enjoyed building our fine motor skills using tweezers, mark making and building with blocks. We’ve made cocoa playdough, as well as enjoying small world play, and investigating water 🍋🦒🧱🚂
Happy world book📕 📚 day!
Can you guess what some of our children dressed up as today ?😁
We enjoyed reading some of their favourite stories from home today at circle time.
Here is some other activities we have had out for the children to explore 😊
•Nature train ride🚇
•Using fruit to draw and talk about shape, size and colour!🍍🍋🍎
•Getting the scales to balance through trial and error
•Strengthening our fine motor muscles by cutting play dough ✂️
*Nursery Closed*

Storm 💨🌪⛈ Eunice has meant that we are closed tomorrow (Friday 18th February) due to the severe winds expected in the south west. Amber and red weather warnings issued by the met office. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, the safety of our children and staff is paramount.

See you all after half term😀

Here is some pictures of the lovely things our children have done at nursery today…
•Love potions
•Chocolate covered strawberries
•Water painting
•Love slime for dinosaurs
•Tracing shapes and some special love hearts

We explained to the children that today is all about showing love to the people that are special to us, whoever that may be.

Light and dark week... the children loved mixing the black paint to the white shaving foam, watching the changes and exploring the textures 😊
We have been looking at light and dark this week using a variety of activities, the children have used their senses to explore the differences and the changes that can be made.
Last week we had a visit from Steve, from Somerset Road Safety, who talked us through being safe whilst we are near the road. He told us 4 very important rules, which are: 1. STOP 2. LOOK 3. LISTEN 4. THINK.

After our visit from Steve, we made our own zebra crossing. Today, we had our lollipop lady, Mrs Stringer come to nursery to help us use and cross our zebra crossing safely!

🌟 Big thanks to Steve and Mrs Stringer 🌟
🌹 Remembrance Day 🌹

The children have been creating their poppies this week using a range of materials. We have made our own poppy wreath to take to Church with us, ready for our Remembrance Service.

We have also been watching a lovely, age appropriate short clip on the CBeebies website in relation to Remembrance Day. Here is the link if you would like to watch it at home. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02qvbd9

The Queens platinum Jubilee 👑👸💂‍♀️
What a lovely week celebrating!
Roots nursery has loved learning about the Queen.
We had a street party 🎉
Drew the Queen and wrote her special letters 📮
Made the Queen and ourselves some afternoon tea sandwiches 🥪
Built our very own bucking palace 🏰
And joined in with the whole school jubilee church service.
What a lovely end to the term, have a lovely weeks break everyone 😃

A not so sunny week here at nursery ❄️🌧 So we brought the sunny sea side, inside to us! The children loved listening in the shells to see if they could hear the sea, feeling the texture of the sand, mixing different textures together and telling us about their shark 🦈 experiences!
We have also kept cosy in the reading 📖 area, looking at books together📚.
Carrying out mark making on the easel, can you spot the letter ‘T’ …
And some Friday cooking… chocolate rice crispy cakes for an afternoon treat😋
