🚀 What an AMAZING Fantastic Futures Week! 🌟

What a week it was! Last week, more than 20 incredible visitors inspired our children by sharing their careers, life experiences and the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

From hands-on workshops and interactive displays to classroom talks, school visits and practical activities, our pupils have explored a huge variety of professions and discovered that the possibilities for their futures are endless.

💙 At Westfield, we are incredibly proud to be the only local primary school to dedicate an entire week solely to raising aspirations and broadening children's ambitions. We believe every child deserves the chance to dream big, discover new possibilities and realise that with hard work, determination and resilience, they really can achieve anything.

👏 A heartfelt THANK YOU to every business, organisation, volunteer, former pupil, parent and member of staff who gave up their time to make this week so special. Your enthusiasm, expertise and generosity have inspired all of our children, and the impact of your support will last far beyond this week.

🎥 Take a look at our Fantastic Futures Week highlights video and see the week in action!

📱 Important Online Safety Reminder for Year 6 Parents

Over the weekend, the school became aware of a significant number of inappropriate messages being shared within Year 6 WhatsApp groups. Some of these messages were offensive, derogatory and deeply upsetting, with many being sent very late at night.

These online interactions are having a real impact on children's wellbeing, friendships and their experiences in school.

We are asking all parents to either remove their child from these social media groups or regularly monitor their messages and online activity. If you become aware of inappropriate content, please remove your child from the group where possible and speak to them about respectful online behaviour.

Please remember that WhatsApp has a minimum age requirement of 13 years, so it is not intended for primary-aged children.

Keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility. Thank you for your continued support in helping us ensure our children are safe, respectful and kind, both online and offline.

☀️ Hot Weather to Continue ☀️

The forecast shows that the hot weather is set to continue, so we will be keeping the same arrangements in place from Monday 13th July until further notice to help keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Please continue to send your child to school in their PE kit (suitable clothing for school – no crop tops or very high-cut shorts) and ensure they have:

💧 A filled water bottle
🧴 Sun cream applied before school
🧢 A sun hat

To help manage the heat, we will continue to:

💧 Provide extra opportunities for children to refill their water bottles.
🌳 Limit very active games and activities during lunchtime.
🌿 Encourage children to stay in shaded areas during break and lunchtime.
🚰 Provide drinking water for any child who arrives without a water bottle.
🏫 Move classes to cooler areas of the school where appropriate.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep everyone safe, well and comfortable during the hot weather. ☀️

☀️ Hot Weather Update ☀️

We will remain fully open this week. Although it is forecast to be very warm, temperatures are not expected to reach the mid to high 30s, and humidity levels should be much lower than they were a couple of weeks ago. However, we will still be putting similar arrangements in place from tomorrow, Wednesday 8th July, to help keep everyone safe and comfortable during the hot weather.

Please remember to send your child in their PE kit (suitable clothing for school – no crop tops or very high-cut shorts) and also provide:

💧 A filled water bottle
🧴 Sun lotion applied before school
🧢 A sun hat

To help manage the heat, we will be:

💧 Allowing extra opportunities for children to refill their water bottles.
🌳 Limiting very active games and activities during lunchtime.
🌿 Encouraging children to stay in shaded areas during break and lunchtime.
🚰 Providing water for any child who arrives without a water bottle.
🏫 Moving classes to cooler areas of the school where appropriate.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep everyone safe and comfortable during the hot weather. ☀️

🚀 **Could YOU Inspire the Next Generation?** 🌟

👩‍⚕️👨‍🚒👩‍🍳👨‍💻👩‍🔬👨‍🎨👩‍⚖️👷‍♀️👨‍✈️

Westfield Primary School needs YOU!

From Monday 6th–Friday 10th July we'll be celebrating our 9th Fantastic Futures Week – and we're looking for amazing people from our school community to help inspire our children.

Do you have a career, business, trade, hobby, skill or life experience that our pupils would love to learn about?

Whether you're a nurse, engineer, builder, artist, entrepreneur, scientist, musician, emergency worker, sportsperson, or anything in between... your story could spark a child's future.

💡 You could:
⭐ Give a short talk
⭐ Lead a hands-on activity or workshop
⭐ Demonstrate a skill
⭐ Chat with a class about your journey

⏰ We're completely flexible and will work around your availability – whether you can spare 30 minutes or a little longer.

Last year's visitors made a huge impact, opening our pupils' eyes to exciting possibilities and inspiring them to dream big. We'd love to welcome even more members of our community this year!

📩 If you'd like to get involved, please send us a message, or contact the school office.

You never know... the conversation you have today could shape a child's tomorrow. 💙✨

☀️ Heatwave Update – School Open as Normal Tomorrow ☀️

We will be fully open tomorrow, and the arrangements shared previously will remain in place to help keep everyone safe and comfortable in the hot weather.

Please remember to send your child with:
💧 A filled water bottle
🧴 Sun lotion applied before school
🧢 A sun hat
👕 Their PE kit (with suitable clothing for school – no crop tops or very high-cut shorts)

To help manage the heat, we will be:

💧 Allowing extra opportunities for children to refill their water bottles.
🌳 Limiting outdoor activities during lunchtime and reducing the amount of time spent outside.
🌿 Encouraging children to stay in shaded areas during break and lunchtime.
🚰 Providing water for any child who arrives without a water bottle.
🏫 Moving classes to cooler areas of the school where possible.

Due to the hottest part of the day falling around lunchtime, children will spend approximately 20 minutes on the field before returning indoors. This will help reduce prolonged exposure to the strongest sunshine and highest temperatures.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep everyone safe during the heatwave. ☀️
