We have become increasingly aware of highly inappropriate videos circulating online and are being viewed by children in schools. These video clips are appearing on many social media sites and YouTube (including Kids YouTube). One of the videos starts innocently, like the start of a Peppa Pig episode for example, but quickly turn into an altered version with violence and offensive language.
Another video clip is going by the name of 'MoMo' which shows a warped white mask which is promoting children to do dangerous tasks without telling their parents. Examples noticed in schools include asking the children to turn the gas on or to find and take tablets.
As you can imagine, this is highly distressing for the children to view. We encourage you to be vigilant when your child is using any device or watching any clips. We would also encourage all parents/carers to remind the children of our school online rules:
KS1: If it upsets you, switch off the screen and tell an adult.
KS2: Save it, block it, report it.
If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Please take a minute to read the attached information regarding a new online game called βMomoβ.
Today we've heard from hundreds of concerned schools and parents about the horrifying challenge which has reportedly been appearing in children's YouTube videos, causing panic and upset amongst young people. We hope you find our guide useful... https://nationalonlinesafety.com/resources/platform-guides/momo-online-safety-guide-for-parents

School Gates:
From Monday 19th November we will no longer be opening the large playground gate at the beginning and the end of the day. All parents and children will need to use the pedestrian gate next to the school car park. This is for the safety of our families and will hopefully encourage you to use the Lolly Pop crossing to cross the road safely. Can we also remind you to park with consideration for our neighbours and not use the yellow zig zag lines for parking or dropping off. We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation with this. Please share this post ππ»
We are sharing this on behalf of Corriegardners who are currently helping us in school with our chicken garden. They also have some future projects planned for school in the new year. It would be great if some of our pupils could get involved with the local community and have their say π
Yesterday our key stage 2 children spent the afternoon planting some new trees at the bottom of the playground. Please can we make sure that our children stay off that area before and after school to give the trees chance to settle in - thank you π
Our Year 5βs are nearly back from space - they should be home by noon!! They look like they have had a fab time!!
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for your support and cooperation during our lockdown this afternoon. The Police arrived at school at 3pm and told us that we needed to keep the children inside school because of a Police incident at a local park. We were told that there was an individual with a firearm and that a police unit was on their way to secure the situation. After the incident, the Police Officer told us that this was the best, most efficient lockdown that he has ever seen and praised our staff team for their team work and calm approach to the situation. Your children were an absolute credit and followed all of our instructions without question. Thank you again for remaining calm and allowing us to do our job and keep your children safe which is our number one priority at all times.
Wishing you all a lovely half term break.
Mrs Nelson and Everyone at Radcliffe Primary.
