A huge well done to our netball team on their first game of the season! Only 3 played for the team last season so it was a debut match for the majority of the team. They represented the school amazingly with true team spirit and sportsmanship. It was lovely to have family watching and cheering them on! A special mention to our team captain, Hanna, and congratulations to the opposition's chosen player of the match - Stanley, and coach's player of the match - Madison 👏

This week, Year 2 enjoyed reading poems from our new book, 'The Puffin Book of Fantastic First Poems,' edited by June Crebbin. We took turns speaking, thinking about the tone of our voices and performing actions to the words.

On Tuesday afternoon, our new School Council team went to Luxury Residential Care Home for a Games afternoon. The children (all 20 of them) were an absolute delight and played games with the residents from Snakes and Ladders to Chess to Jenga to Snap. We took children from Y1 to Y5 and they showed such empathy and respect with our elderly neighbours. They all chatted and laughed - it was a real delight which the residents loved! Some didn't want us to leave! We are looking forward to our next visit based around Remembrance Day.

Year 1 – Celebrating European Day of Languages

Today in Year 1 we looked at countries in Europe on the world map. We learnt how to say hello in a few different languages. We were so impressed that they remembered how to say hello in French from when they were in Reception Class! Très bien Year 1!

Year 6 enjoyed becoming travel show presenters today as they used their knowledge of the city Innsbruck in the Alps to present their own travel shows.

Some very interesting performances full of information on the city’s climate , population , transport and leisure … apparently some of them were TUI and others worked for Jet 2 😂🗻❄️

Last week we celebrated International Dot Day, an annual worldwide event encouraging creativity, courage, and self‑expression. Children were encouraged to believe in themselves and reminded that art is something they absolutely can do - an important part of Growth Mindset.

This week the boys in Year 5 & Year 6 had a fabulous workshop exploring attitudes towards masculinity which was run by Progressive Masculinity Ltd, a company with vast experience of working with boys and young men within the education system. Progressive Masculinity’s work has been featured in The Times, The Daily Telegraph, BBC Radio and a Channel 4 documentary. The boys were led by Andy Caunce who expertly guided the boys through activities and reflections especially looking at Aspirations and Role Models. The boys gave some great feedback and thought about the person they would want to be. Andy praised the boys and how brilliant they had been, and also how much he had enjoyed being in Cams Lane.
