What a great start to the day. Thanks for the kind words Grace.
Some of you may be thinking 3 years is a long time to be learning and for some it probably is. But to others it’s just how it has to be.
Grace came to me with an abject fear of driving. Anxiety off the scale. We spent hours going over the same junctions building her confidence and trying to reduce that fear. Many occasions we had conversations about her wanting to give up. I kept persuading and gently pushing her to keep going. Hours spent going over and perfecting her manoeuvres. Steering the wrong way and having mini breakdowns. There were tears of frustration. Smiles when it went well.
All that effort ended yesterday with a pass and only two driving faults.
Perseverance and determination from Grace eventually paid off and she can now drive independently and I know she will be a safe driver.
The anxiety is still there and always will be but now it doesn’t define her driving. It makes her a more cautious and alert driver.

For every nervous driver out there…

Driving isn’t a competition. Nobody is handing out medals for who can get to the roundabout first, who can park the quickest, or who drives without ever hesitating.

It’s about confidence — and confidence is something that grows step by step, decision by decision.

Every single confident driver you see on the road today once sat where you are now. They once questioned if they were cut out for it. They once felt that same knot in their stomach before starting the engine.
They once stalled, hesitated, or took a corner far slower than they wanted to.
