Welcome back! 👋

Today we’re welcoming our Leicestershire learners and staff back to Woodside Group for the start of a brand-new school year!

Our Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire bases will be joining them next week, followed by Nottinghamshire the week after.

We hope everyone has had a fantastic summer break and is looking forward to the year ahead.

There’s lots to look forward to over the coming months, with new experiences, new challenges and plenty more memories to be made along the way.

In the summer term, Longdale Learners completed their first MVV project - upcycling some old pallets to create a tiered planter for the garden🪏🪴

As the project progressed, the learners really took ownership of the project and learned many valuable skills including using tools safely, painting, problem solving, communication and budgeting. It has been lovely to see the learners' confidence grow and to see their hard work reflected in their school environment 💛🤩

Longdale Lodge have recently explored famous and historical people with Autism by playing an adapted game of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'!

All answers revealed some factual information about who someone was, and what they are known for - e.g. Albert Einstein. This generated some great discussions and knowledge growth!

Our Stonehurst Learners had a lovely shared breaktime together! We love to see our learners choosing to spend time together and sharing their interests with each other 💛💚

Enrichment at Longdale Lodge recently has had our learners engaged in activities about 6 different religions and how they support the community. As part of the session our learners tried different food linked to the religions - including samosas and homemade buttermilk biscuits they had baked themselves! 🥘🌍

A duckling was found separated from it's family in the carpark at The Wharf in June and our amazing team rescued the baby bird and kept it safe until the Wildlife Trust could come to collect it. Well done team for an excellent rescue! 🐥💛

Learners from Forge and Vale had an incredible day with the Leicester Tigers! 🐯💚

Taking to the pitch for a Mixed Ability Rugby Festival, everyone gave 100%, tried a new sport, and showed fantastic teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout the day.

Learners also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes stadium tour and even had the opportunity to lift one of the club's trophies! A brilliant day full of new experiences, confidence-building, and unforgettable memories. Well done to everyone involved! 👏💚
