YEAR 6 ART

Year 6 have started their art and design topic by focusing on line, texture, shape, tone, pattern and form. They selected drawing materials to draw a few quick sketches of fruit and vegetables then enlarged one, considering the proportions and detail.

They used watercolours to create their initial shapes then overworked their pictures with paint, colour pencil, charcoal and pastels.

YEAR 1 - THE DOT

After reading the wonderful story The Dot, Year 1 created their own colourful dots using felt tip and water. We enjoyed lots of thoughtful conversations about the things we’re already great at and the things we want to keep practising, just like Vashti in the story. Well done Year 1!

ROAD SAFETY TALK

Year 5 have enjoyed having a visitor yesterday.

A road Safety Officer came into Queniborough to talk to Year 5 about Road Safety, which was very informative and they had the opportunity to investigate an accident to find out who was a fault.

YEAR 1 3D ART

In Year 1 for our 3D Art topic, we made insects out of clay, let them dry in the sunshine and painted them. The children worked so hard, especially in the heat! Well done Year 1.

INVESTIGATING FRICTION IN YEAR 5

Year 5 explored friction through a fun and hands-on investigation using jelly. To begin, they used chopsticks to move the jelly and found it quite sticky and difficult to handle.

Next, they added cooking oil, which made the jelly much more slippery. Some children discovered it was easier to move the jelly without the oil, while others found the oil-covered jelly simpler to move.

This led to a great discussion about friction, helping the children understand that it is a force that can be either helpful or unhelpful depending on the situation.
