As we head into the start of a new school year this week, we wanted to wish our wonderful Year 8 Class of 2026 the very best as they begin their next chapter at senior school.

What an incredible group of young people you are. You will be very missed at DH, but we know you’ll take the friendships, confidence and sense of community you’ve built here with you.

Keep being kind, keep being curious, keep looking out for one another and, most importantly, keep being the very best you can be.

Good luck, Year 8. We can’t wait to hear what comes next, and we hope to see you all again very soon.

Come and spend a day with us at Dorset House.

'A Day in the Life of DH' is a little different from a traditional Open Day. It’s a chance to bring the family, explore, join in and get a real feel for school life.

If you’re looking for the right school for your child, this is a brilliant opportunity to experience our community, meet our staff and pupils and chat to some of our current families.

There’ll be plenty happening throughout the day, from science and music to Forest School, cooking, sport and maths challenges. Come along, get involved and experience a little bit of everything that makes DH, DH.

A few photos from our annual Art and DT Exhibition.

Each year, every child from Reception to Year 8 has a piece of Art or DT work on display, making it a wonderful celebration of creativity across the whole school. It was lovely to welcome families to view the exhibition before the Summer Concert and see the imagination, skill and hard work that had gone into every display.

A wonderful Dorset House tradition and always such a special evening.

No challenge is ever too big for Mr Arbuthnot and the Year 7 DT class!

To celebrate Headmistress Sarah Sutherland-Booth's first 100 days at Dorset House, some of the Year 7 pupils set to work designing, 3D printing and sewing a very special Dorset House medal.

Mrs Sutherland-Booth had no idea what was coming and was completely surprised when she was presented with her very own medal at the end of the Prep Sports Day prize giving.

We celebrated another wonderful Prize Giving, bringing our DH community together one final time before the summer holidays.

As Mrs Sutherland-Booth reminded us, "Be the best you can be" doesn't mean fitting into a particular mould. It means thinking for yourself, being yourself and becoming the very best version of who you are.

We didn't only celebrate academic success but also the qualities that matter just as much: effort, progress, resilience, creativity and kindness. Because success isn't about being the best. It's about becoming better.

Congratulations to all of our prize winners, including those recognised with our 'Be The Best You Can Be' Cups for their consistent effort throughout the year.

We also enjoyed musical performances from our pupils, said some heartfelt farewells to members of staff, celebrated our Year 8 leavers and congratulated our newly appointed Heads of School. It was a fitting end to another fantastic year at DH!

In the final week of term, we had the privilege of welcoming the internationally acclaimed Aurin Girls' Choir from Hungary as part of their 2026 UK tour.

The choir led interactive workshops with our pupils, giving them the chance to experience the Kodály approach in action, something our Head of Music, Mr Marconi, is incredibly passionate about.

In the evening, they performed a stunning concert for our school and the local community. Their repertoire spanned sacred and secular music, contemporary Hungarian works, folk arrangements and lighter choral pieces, all performed entirely from memory. The older girls have close to 150 pieces memorised.

Words can't really do justice to how phenomenal they were. Their performance moved many audience members to tears, and it was a real privilege to welcome them. We hope we'll have the chance to welcome them back one day.

One of the highlights of the summer term is always Sports Day. This year's Prep Sports Day came with a slight twist, as the heatwave and weather warnings meant we swapped our Swimming Galas and Prep Sports Day at the last minute.

The children took it all in their stride and gave every event their all, as you can see from these wonderful action shots!

Hutchinson were crowned overall winners and congratulations go to Oki, Evie and Poppy, who all set new school records. There was plenty of encouragement from their peers, staff and parents, as well as fantastic house spirit and camaraderie throughout the day.

Needless to say, the ice cream van was a very welcome sight after all the children's hard work and effort in the heat!

The annual Bury Fete is back this Saturday! ☀️

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, come along to the Bury Fete, held at Dorset House from 1pm to 4pm. It’s a wonderful event for all the family, with stalls, games, refreshments and music from Petworth Town Band, all in aid of Arun Churches.

We hope to see lots of familiar faces at this much-loved community event!
