🌟 Introducing our Head Students for 2026–27! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Jasmine and William, who will be taking on the roles of Head Students at Crawshaw Academy this year.

They may already look familiar to many of you, having been the brilliant hosts of our student podcast, Beyond the Gates 🎙️

We’re really looking forward to seeing Jasmine and William lead our Student Leadership Team, champion the student voice and represent our school throughout the year.

We know they’ll do a fantastic job and can’t wait to see what they achieve! 👏💙

🌟 YEAR 7 RESIDENTIAL – SEPTEMBER 2027 🌟

We’re really excited to offer our new Year 7 students the opportunity to take part in a residential at PGL Caythorpe Court, from 22nd–24th September 2027.

A residential is about so much more than just getting away from school. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to make new friends, build confidence, challenge themselves, develop independence and create memories that will last well beyond Year 7. For many students, it can be their first experience of being away from home with their new friends – and it can be a hugely positive experience.

The cost is £340, but we want every student to have the opportunity to take part.

💷 There is plenty of time to pay, with the option to make regular payments through Arbor and spread the cost rather than paying the full amount at once.

📱 To sign up, simply book your place through Arbor. Payments can then be made through Arbor, allowing you to choose a payment schedule that works for you.

We also understand that £340 may not be manageable for every family. Cost should not be a barrier to a student taking part, so if you would like to discuss financial support, please contact the school. We’ll be happy to talk through the options available.

We’d love to see as many of our Year 7 students as possible joining us for what promises to be a fantastic few days! 💙

School Holidays and Taking Time Away

We completely understand that family holidays are important, and we know that finding an affordable break can be difficult for families.

However, we do not condone taking children out of school during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Attendance is important, and there is a clear link between regular attendance and academic outcomes. Every day in school provides another opportunity to learn, make progress and keep up with learning.

To support families, we have added training days either side of the October half-term holiday, giving families the opportunity to set off a little earlier or return a little later without missing a day of lessons.

We also would like to remind you that Leeds has different Easter holiday dates from many other parts of the country. The Easter break in Leeds falls after the Easter weekend, which may give families the opportunity to take advantage of potentially cheaper and quieter breaks without needing to take children out of school during term time.

We will always work with families to support good attendance, and we really appreciate your support in helping your child make the most of every day in school.

Every day counts. Every lesson matters. 💙

📢 Careers in Leeds 2026
If your child is starting to think about their future after school, this is an event not to miss.
Careers in Leeds 2026 brings together over 100 employers, colleges and training providers under one roof, giving young people the chance to explore a huge range of careers, ask questions and discover the opportunities available across Leeds.
📅 Tuesday 3rd November 2026
🕛 12.00pm–6.00pm
There'll be opportunities to speak to employers from sectors including construction, engineering, digital, healthcare, education, finance, hospitality, law, the creative industries and many more. Whether your child is considering college, an apprenticeship or going straight into employment, there's something for everyone.
A quiet hour from 12.00pm–1.00pm is available for visitors with special educational needs and/or disabilities. General admission is from 1.00pm–6.00pm.
The event is free to attend, but tickets should be booked in advance.

💙 Leeds City College Quieter Open Events
Choosing what to do after Year 11 can feel like a big step, and for some young people, busy open events can be a little overwhelming.
Leeds City College offers Quieter Open Events, designed to give prospective students and their families the chance to explore the college in a calmer, more relaxed environment. With fewer visitors, these sessions provide the same opportunity to look around, meet staff, ask questions and find out about courses, just at a gentler pace.
📍 Printworks Campus – Tuesday 29th September, 4.30pm–6.30pm
📍 Quarry Hill Campus – Tuesday 29th September, 4.30pm–6.30pm
📍 Somerville House – Tuesday 29th September, 4.30pm–6.30pm
📍 Park Lane Campus – Tuesday 20th October, 4.30pm–6.30pm
If your child would benefit from a quieter setting, these events are well worth considering.

🎓 Crawshaw Academy celebrates another year of excellent GCSE results! 💙

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and the hard work, resilience and determination they have shown.

🌟 12% achieved at least one Grade 9
🌟 23% of all grades were Grade 9
🌟 30% achieved at least one Grade 8
🌟 70% of grades were Grade 4+
🌟 55% of grades were Grade 5+

Both Grade 4+ and Grade 5+ outcomes are above national averages.

But this is about more than grades. We are proud of every student who has achieved their personal best — whether that means the very highest grades, exceptional progress from their starting point, or overcoming challenges along the way.

A huge thank you to our students, families and staff for the hard work and support that have made these results possible.

👏 Congratulations, Year 11. You should be incredibly proud.
