This just popped up on my time hop and made me smile and cry at the same time! How far we’ve come since covid changed all our lives forever!
Forever proud of what our entire school community managed to achieve during those tricky times. ♥️
1️⃣ In Year 1 today we learned about respect, tolerance and a feeling of belonging - whilst reading the story ‘Rainbow Fish’! We discussed how different we are to the other people in our class…whether that was to do with the way we looked, or our hobbies, and how it’s good to be unique, because after all…
“We are all different, but together we make something special!” ❤️💙💛
Sending a huge well done and welcome to this superstar this week!!

Despite Nikita and his family just moving last week to Prudhoe from the Ukraine, this week he has thrown himself into school life, and has never stopped smiling! We are delighted his family chose Prudhoe West. ♥️
You should’ve all received a text today with the details of how to order your child’s jubilee mugs and tea towels.

If any parents haven’t received this, please email to let us know and we’ll send the link out for your child’s work.

Make sure you get your orders in by the deadline. X♥️
Welcome back everyone… and a huge welcome to our new children starting this week, and their families!

We remain short staffed in the office, so please continue to help us out and contact by email wherever possible. Make sure you are using the [email protected] address.

We also welcome any enquiries from any new families who are looking ahead to securing places for their children, either now, or for September. We can now che k eligibility for free places for 2 year olds directly in school - you don’t need to wait for a letter. 01661832288

Don’t forget out Little Stars group is now back every Friday, with the wonderful Mrs Falcus leading the regular rhyme time! All welcome. X
Great idea from Robinwood so children who will visit in the next couple of years can go and visit and try some activities, and any parents who have any anxieties can go and see how great this place is.

Also a lovely opportunity for those who have already been to take their grown up along to show them first hand what they got up to. X ♥️
PE kit day reminder ⚽️🎾🏀

Hi all, I thought I would email to remind you all of PE days and PE kit. On PE days children need to come to school wearing grey/black joggers/leggings/shorts, red T shirt, school jumper/cardigan and suitable trainers. Children will stay in their PE kit all day so please ensure they have layers/waterproof jacket for break times.

For the first half term, PE days are as follows:

Reception: Tuesday
Year 1: Tuesday and Thursday
Year 2: Tuesday and Thursday
Year 3: Monday and Wednesday
Year 4: Wednesday and Thursday (Thursday is swimming day, so children require swimming kit instead - more info to be sent via email)

In addition to children in EYFS will spend time each week doing outdoor learning. Children in nursery on Wednesdays and children in reception on Fridays. Children will need appropriate outdoor clothing on these days, including wellies and waterproofs.

Thanks ☺️
Happy Birthday to our Queen! Can’t wait for our Jubilee celebration week before half term… we have lots planned and more being planned… info coming soon! 🇬🇧
Please share ♥️
It’s national primary school offers day! Thank you to all of our nursery parents for choosing to continue your child’s journey at Prudhoe West, and a huge welcome (or welcome back!) to those families joining us!
If you have any questions or queries, please send us a message or email - [email protected] - and we’ll respond as quickly as we can.

We still have places available in Nursery and Rainbow Room for immediate or September start, and also in all year groups across school. Again, please get in touch if we can help in any way. X♥️

(Current Year 4 children - you should also get your middle school place confirmation today. )

Watch this space - Women’s self defence day coming soon! 🥋

Wayne Bond, who is a past parent and our school Karate instructor, is also qualified to deliver Self Defence Training.

We are currently in the process of organising an event (likely on a weekend) for women in our school community or the local community, where you will be able to take part in the full day Self Defence course. We think this is really fantastic skill on offer.

To make sure the course is as brilliant as it sounds, Wayne came along to school tonight to offer us a taste of what you will receive if you come along! All we can say is it was brilliant! We have had a lot of fun & laughs, but on a serious note the course was extremely informative and well delivered! Thanks Wayne ☺️

Today we welcomed Amy, Neil & Donna from -Lighten - North East Limited to deliver Mini Medics training for all children in Reception - Year 4.

During their session the children learned about dangers, 999, the recovery position, CPR, choking and bandages! The children were phenomenal and we are so proud to have over 150 mini medics in our school!

🪵**Reception parents**🪵
Hi, Reception team here, we have decided that whilst we are getting to know our lovely new Reception children we won’t be going to the woods tomorrow, our trips to the woods will start next Friday (15th September). We apologise for the short notice, if you need to send them to school in p.e kit tomorrow that’s absolutely fine!

In regards to what to wear for the woods when we do go, children can come to school wearing p.e kit - please make sure legs are covered as much as possible to avoid any risk of nettle stings, and be advised we will likely get muddy so nothing fancy/precious. We also advise children to wear wellies when possible. We do have spare wellies in school but if children can bring their own in that would be great, ideally with their name written in somewhere ☺️

Little Stars Toddler Group is not on tomorrow! ✨

Our first session back will be on Friday 22nd September - spread the word 🥰

Nursery Train Trip 🚂 (part 1)

All the lovely little Nursery boys and girls would like to say a massive thank you to their families and friends for giving up their time and joining us on our trip!

Also a massive thanks to Fiona and all the staff at Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership for facilitating our trip and paying for everyone’s train fare.

Our fabulous friends took extra care of their adults and told them about all the ways to stay safe around the train station. They walked super smartly down to the train station from school, looked out for their train, had chats with the other passengers, drew beautiful pictures, had a picnic lunch, went for a walk to the curvy bridge, played ‘Train, Train, Ticket (our version of ‘Duck, Duck, Goose!’) and remembered to buy their train ticket home to show the conductor’s! 😮‍💨 🎟️ 🚂

✨ Ian Lowery Memorial First Schools Tournament✨

CHAMPIONNNNSSSSS 🥇🏅✨

Wowwwww! What an afternoon we have had at Eastwood Park. I am so unbelievably proud of these boys and girls for their teamwork, skills and amazing attitudes today. They worked hard, and were brilliant ambassadors and represented what Prudhoe West is all about.

Prudhoe West Thunder won their group, and Prudhoe West Lightning came runners up meaning…they faced each other in the semi final. It was a tough game but Thunder won 3-0 meaning they made their way to the final.

In the final they faced Wylam! It was an incredible game, Wylam played brilliantly and pushed us to the final whistle. With some brilliant teamwork and goals, we won the final 3-2 meaning we were crowned champions!!! I was so proud of Thunder but also Lightning who cheered them on until the end, running onto the pitch to celebrate as a school! Safe to say I got a bit emotional! 😫

A big well done to captains Roman and Freddie who led their teams fantastically. Well done to Fletcher who was top goal scorer with a shoutout to Aaron who scored an unbelievable volley! Coaches players of the tournament go to Ava and Toby for being the unsung heroes in defence!

The tournament was incredible and largely down to Wilton Holmes who helped myself and Emma organise it! Thank you to parents Chris and Michael for coaching our teams over the last half term, and to Lesley for all the support today!

So proud of Prudhoe West 💕

🎶Choir - What a fantastic morning we’ve had at Hexham Hospital! The children, as always, were brilliantly behaved and represented our school incredibly well. They sang all of the songs absolutely beautifully and we had a great audience of parents, relatives, hospital workers, patients and others.
The feedback we had from everyone watching was extremely positive, which was so lovely to hear! A member of the public who was attending the hospital came over to me whilst we were having our juice and biscuits and said “when I arrived at the hospital this morning, I wasn’t feeling very good at all…in fact I was having a pretty bad day. I can’t tell you how much seeing your choir sing has made me feel better, thank you so much”. Every time we take our choir out to perform, one of the reasons we do it is to bring joy to other people, and we have certainly done that today. Once again, I’m a very proud teacher and we’re a very proud school! Well done everyone, and a huge thank you to our parent/ grandparent helpers for coming along with us. We couldn’t do these trips without you!
We will post some more photos/ videos on here when we’ve got them altogether. 🎶❤️

🎶Choir - Hexham Hospital trip
Quick reminder that all choir children in Years 2, 3 and 4 who have consent to attend Hexham Hospital tomorrow morning, need to come in their school uniform as opposed to their PE kit. If they are going swimming or playing football later in the day and therefore need to be in different clothes, they can bring these to school in a bag and change into them when we return from the hospital at lunchtime. Thanks ☺️

🎶🚨CHOIR HELPERS NEEDED! 🚨🎶
On Thursday this week, the children in choir from years 2, 3 and 4 will be attending Hexham Hospital to perform for the 75th Anniversary of the NHS! We will be leaving school via coach at 9am and will be back at school by 11.45am at the latest. We currently have not had any parent volunteers, meaning we will not be able to go 😱. If you are free this day and would be willing to come with us, we would really appreciate it! For those of you who came to the show on Thursday, you’ll get to hear the songs all over again, you lucky people 🤩. Please either comment on this post or let the office know tomorrow if you are available! Thank you in advance 🥰🎶

🎶Here they are: the photos from our choir showcase last night!! It’s really tricky to get videos of our performances - due to photo permissions, so in our lunchtime rehearsal today we decided to record our two favourite songs (as chosen by the children) to share with you as another memory from our night last night! Unfortunately I can’t add them to this post though, so I’ll add them to another one instead. Thank you for all of your lovely comments on the previous post. They really do mean a lot, and we’re so glad that you enjoyed the show. 🎶

YEAR 1 - The children have completed their science project all about animals. 🦎🦋🐝 The children took part in an animal search where they listened for sounds and looked for clues to try and find out what animals we have in the school grounds. Their final lesson was to design a wonderful animal sanctuary based on all the information they had learned about over the last couple of weeks. This included what animals ate and grouping animals based on their features.
