Thank you, Father Michael ❤️
Today we celebrate and give thanks for the wonderful gift that Father Michael has been to the St Matthew’s school community.
For nine years, Fr Michael has been so much more than our parish priest. He has been a constant presence at the heart of our school family- celebrating with us, praying with us, encouraging us, comforting us and, above all, sharing in the lives of our children.
From First Holy Communions and special Masses to school liturgies, celebrations, moments of sadness and the countless ordinary days in between, Father Michael has always made time for our children. He has had a remarkable ability to speak to them with warmth, humour and kindness, helping them to understand that their faith is not simply something we learn about, but something we live.
For our staff, he has been a friend, a wise counsel and a source of encouragement. For our families, a welcoming and reassuring presence. And for our pupils, he has been the face of a Church that is loving, joyful, compassionate and there for them.
But perhaps what we will remember most is the way Father Michael has made people feel. He has made our children feel valued. He has made our families feel welcome. He has made our staff feel supported. He has reminded us, time and again, that at the centre of our school is not simply education, but a community rooted in faith, love and service.
Father Michael, as you retire from active priestly ministry, we want you to know just how deeply grateful we are for everything you have given to St Matthew’s. Your legacy is woven into the story of our school and into the memories of generations of our children.
You have truly been part of the heart of St Matthew’s - and you always will be. ❤️
May God bless you abundantly in this next chapter of your life. May you enjoy the rest, laughter and happiness you deserve, and may you look back with immense pride on the countless lives you have touched.
Thank you, Father Michael, for everything. We will miss you enormously.
With love, gratitude and prayers from all of us at St Matthew’s. ❤️🙏
