I’ve been away working on a super exciting personal project. My beautiful firstborn arrived in April so I’m super busy in my boy Mum era! I’ll be taking some time off to enjoy those newborn scrunches, sleepless nights and nappy changes but keep your eyes peeled on the page for when I return as there will be lots of new and exciting updates!

One of the biggest things that I am asked for support with as a tutor is children's writing. Writing for many children poses such a significant level of challenge that many children will opt to avoid it wherever possible. There are so many aspects to writing including posture, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, letter formation, pencil grip, punctuation, content, spelling AND more. It is a lot for little ones to think about.

One of my favourite things to do is to see what children do when you remove some of those pressures and encourage children to simply write for their own pleasure and so one of the first projects I completed for my Etsy store (before I had even finalised my logo!) was to create a book full of fun and engaging writing prompts that will hopefully inspire children to get creative with their writing.

I haven’t posted on this page in over a week which can only mean that I’ve been up to something!!

Today, I received an offer from my first choice of university to study for my Masters Degree in Education (SEND) which I will be starting in September!

Furthering my studies is an excellent way for me to ensure that I am providing the best care and advice for the children and families that I work with and I am super excited to be taking this next step! 👩‍🎓

The number one reason that Class of Knights was created. Every person has been affected by a teacher at some point in their lives, however that impact may have looked. I was fortunate enough to have a champion. An educator who never gave up on me and I strive to be that person for others.

“Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” 💛🌻

Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Her response: "Kids don't learn from people they don't like.'" A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level.

Positive relationships and a love of learning is at the centre of what we, as teachers do. We are privileged enough to be in a position to nurture children and provide them with more than just an education. As teachers, we can wear many hats and play many roles in the lives of the children we work with. To read a review that shares an insight into the role I have in this child’s life fills my heart with so much joy and I can’t thank this family enough for welcoming me into their lives 💛🌻
