🎉 A Successful AGM! 🎉

We’re delighted to confirm that our Parent Council AGM took place last night and was a great success! 💙

We’re excited to welcome our new committee for the year ahead and have already started making plans for what we hope will be a fantastic year for our school community. 🙌

📅 We’ve agreed dates for our future meetings
🎪 We’ll be planning lots of exciting events
💡 And we’ll be looking at new ways to support our pupils, families and school

🎨 Family Craft Day at Prestongrange Museum! 🏺

Looking for something fun to do with the family? Prestongrange Museum are hosting a Family Craft Day on Saturday 5th September, 11am–4.30pm! 🌈

There will be lots of fun craft stations to enjoy, with activities inspired by the industries and history that called Prestongrange home. 🧱🏺⚒️

🌱 A PLEA TO ALL GREEN-FINGERED VOLUNTEERS 🌱

We’re looking for parents, carers, grandparents and friends of Preston Tower Primary School who would be willing to lend a hand as we give the school garden at Preston Road Campus some much-needed TLC! 🌻🪴

The garden needs a good clear-out, tidy-up and refresh, and we’d love to bring together a group of volunteers to help transform it into a lovely space for our children to enjoy and learn in. 💚

You don’t need to be an expert gardener — if you enjoy getting stuck in, pulling a few weeds, planting, tidying or simply have some ideas to share, we’d love to hear from you! 🌿

📅 Dates are still to be confirmed, but we’re hoping to get things moving over the next month or two.

📣 ONE WEEK TO GO! Our Parent Council AGM is next week! 💙

We’ve been talking about why we’d love to see more parents and carers getting involved, so here’s your little reminder…

You don’t need to be a Parent Council member to come along to the AGM! 🙌

It’s a chance to meet us, find out what we do, hear about what we’ve achieved over the past year and, most importantly, see how you could get involved in a way that works for you.

At the moment, we have 10 parent volunteers supporting a school of 725 pupils.

That’s a fantastic group of parents who give their time and energy to help our school community — but imagine what we could achieve with a few more people around the table! ❤️

We’re looking for parents and carers who might be able to:
💡 Bring new ideas
🎉 Help with events
💷 Support fundraising
🗣️ Represent the views of parents
🤝 Volunteer occasionally when they can
❤️ Simply be part of making our school community even better

You don’t need lots of spare time. You don’t need previous experience. And you definitely don’t need to know everything about Parent Councils!

If you’ve ever thought “I’d like to help, but I’m not sure what’s involved” — come along and find out. There’s no pressure to sign up for anything.

🥋🏆 WHAT AN AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT! 🏆🥋

A huge well done to the Preston Tower Primary School pupils who represented Chris Ewing Karate (CEK) at the North East Open Karate Championships yesterday! 👏🎉

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate some fantastic results, with our pupils bringing home 🥇 Gold, 🥈 Silver and 🥉 Bronze medals!

What an achievement! Your hard work, dedication, determination and commitment have really paid off. 💪🥋

A massive congratulations to all the children who took part — whether you came home with a medal or simply gave it your very best, you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. ⭐

Thank you to Chris Ewing Karate for supporting and coaching our pupils, and for giving them the opportunity to compete at such a fantastic event.

📚💙 A LITTLE REMINDER… WE’RE STILL COLLECTING BOOKS! 💙📚

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated books for our school library! Your generosity is very much appreciated, and we’re already building up a fantastic collection. 📖✨

We’re still looking for donations of good-quality children’s books, particularly the graphic novels and titles from our request list.

Does your child have books at home that they’ve outgrown or no longer read? 📚

Why not give them a new home in our school library, where they can be enjoyed by lots of other pupils? ❤️

We’re especially looking for:
📖 Graphic novels
📚 Books for reluctant readers
🦸 Popular children’s series
🔬 Non-fiction
💻 Coding books for ages 13–19

Every book donated helps us create a library that reflects what our pupils actually want to read and helps encourage a love of reading. 🌟

If you have any of the titles featured in the image that your family has finished with and they’re still in good, clean condition, we’d be incredibly grateful for your donation. Pre-loved books can make a huge difference and help inspire a lifelong love of reading for our children.

Every donated book gives another child the chance to discover a new favourite story.

📢 What is an AGM… and why should you come?

We’ve had a few parents ask what the Parent Council AGM actually involves, so we thought we’d explain!

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity to:
✅ Look back at everything we’ve achieved over the last year.
✅ Share how funds have been raised and spent to benefit our children.
✅ Elect or re-elect Parent Council members and office bearers.
✅ Discuss ideas and priorities for the year ahead.
✅ Welcome new parents and carers who would like to get involved.

Most importantly, it’s your chance to have a voice.

At the moment, our Parent Council has just 10 parent volunteers, representing a school of 725 pupils. While we’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together, we’d love to have more parents and carers involved.

You don’t need any previous experience, and joining the Parent Council doesn’t mean committing to every meeting or event. Whether you can help regularly, volunteer occasionally, or simply share your ideas, every contribution is valued.

The more people involved, the more we can achieve for our school community. More volunteers means:
⭐ More ideas.
⭐ More support for school events.
⭐ More fundraising opportunities.
⭐ A stronger voice for all parents and carers.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d like to help, but I’m not sure what’s involved,” then the AGM is the perfect place to start. Come along, meet the team, ask questions, and see what we’re all about. There’s absolutely no pressure—just a warm welcome.
