Programme Spotlight: Textiles & Fashion

From learning to sew to designing fabrics, creating garments and giving something old a new lease of life through upcycling, our Textiles & Fashion programme is all about learning through making. ✂️

Learners get hands-on with practical projects, developing their creative ideas while building new skills, confidence and independence along the way.

It's a chance to experiment, create something of their own and see an idea develop from start to finish.

🍂 Learning through play in Early Years

Our Early Years learners have been getting creative with an autumn-themed tuff tray, thinking about how they could create an activity that's inviting, fun to explore and provides a learning opportunity for young children.

They've also been exploring the importance of literacy and storytelling, creating their own props designed to keep children engaged while listening to a story.

It's a great example of the practical learning that happens at CWP – taking what learners are studying and giving them the opportunity to plan, create and put those ideas into practice.

And we think the finished autumn set-up looks pretty lovely too! 🍁

On Tuesday 29th September, CWP students played their first-ever futsal fixture against another college, travelling to Myerscough College for a friendly match.
The team showed fantastic effort, commitment and respect throughout the game. There was some really good futsal on display, with plenty of positive play and some great goals scored.

The final score was:

Myerscough College 6–4 CWP

A big thank you to Myerscough College for hosting us. We look forward to visiting again soon!

Learning by doing at Creativity Works

A little behind the scenes from our Hospitality & Catering sessions, with two of our learners getting hands-on in the kitchen. 🧁

From following recipes and preparing ingredients to working independently and seeing the finished result, practical sessions like these help learners develop skills, confidence and experience they can take beyond the classroom.

This week, members of the Creativity Works Preston team visited Creativity Works Europe in Kielce, Poland.

We were warmly welcomed by K**a Kepczynska, the President of Creativity Works Europe, and Agata Wojda, the President of the City of Kielce. K**a shared the organisation's inspiring journey, the incredible work they do to support young people and communities, and their exciting plans for the future. We also had the chance to explore the beautiful city of Kielce and learn more about the local community and culture.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to explore future collaboration through Erasmus+ and other international partnership projects. Looking ahead, these opportunities could open new experiences for our learners, support staff development, and strengthen connections with organisations across Europe.

A huge thank you to everyone at Creativity Works Europe for your warm hospitality. We're excited to see where this partnership leads. 💙

Creativity Works Preston is an inclusive alternative education provider supporting young people aged 13–19 who benefit from a more practical, creative approach to learning.

Working alongside schools, local authorities and support services, we create opportunities for young people to build confidence, develop new skills and achieve recognised qualifications in a supportive environment.

For those who are new here, welcome!

Creativity Works Preston provides inclusive, creative alternative education for young people who benefit from a more practical, hands-on approach to learning. We work with SEN learners and those who may not thrive in traditional educational settings, helping them build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and develop skills for the future.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing you to our programmes, our team, and the incredible young people who make Creativity Works what it is.
