We thoroughly enjoyed our visit from Paul Foster MP today. He led a brilliant Q&A session with Years 5 and 6, who asked thoughtful questions and learnt a great deal about what being an MP involves — including, unsurprisingly, plenty of curiosity around the proposed social media ban for under‑16s. Our Head Boy and Head Girl were proud to be in the photo with Mr Foster, representing our school so well. Miss Meredith then gave him a tour of the school, and he was incredibly impressed with everything we do here and the opportunities our children have each day. A fantastic visit all round.

Our Rocksteady bands are in full rehearsal mode — guitars tuned, drums booming and plenty of star‑quality enthusiasm. They’re gearing up for a concert that’s guaranteed to raise the roof.

Big progress for our Little Acorns pre-school extension. The old external wall is now out and a temporary wall is up, giving us the first glimpse of the new space. It’s lovely to see everything moving forward so quickly… we can’t wait to welcome our first cohort of pre-school children in September!

Final activity wrapping up soon and Year 6 are officially on the home stretch. Lunch is next, then the hike back down the hill to meet the coach for 2:15pm. All being well with traffic, we will be back in time for the end of the school day. Expect a coach full of very tired, very sleepy children — they’ve thrown 110% into every single activity and absolutely earned a quiet evening… watching England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 football team!

Day 2 at Robin Wood is off to a brilliant start. Year 6 slept well, spirits are high, and breakfast has been a feast of sausage, beans, hash browns, toast and cereal — perfect fuel for the adventures ahead.

Today’s line‑up includes climbing, giant swing, night line, crate challenge, Piranha’s Pool, caving and finishing with the big team challenge.

They’re excited, energised and ready for another fantastic day.

All our Year 6 adventurers are having an absolute blast at Robin Wood today!

After a 2km mini‑hike — including a very steep 1.5km climb that definitely woke everyone up — we made it up to the castle where lunch was waiting. Energy levels fully restored, we kicked off with raft building… and yes, everyone ended up drenched, which only added to the fun.

Next came the dungeons and the panic rooms, where teamwork (and a few squeals) got us through. Just before tea, the children flew down the zip line with huge smiles.

Tea was a hit — fish fingers or chicken curry, followed by chocolate muffins. No crumbs left behind.

We’re now busy with archery and team challenges, which will take us nicely to hot chocolate time, a good natter, and then lights out. There are already plenty of yawns… a sign of a day very well spent.

Year 6 are setting off on our Robin Wood residential, and the excitement is brilliant. The children are buzzing as we load the coach, already chatting about the climbing, teamwork challenges and all the outdoor adventures ahead. I’m looking forward to seeing them throw themselves into every activity and make some fantastic memories over the next three days.

The procession has officially set off and everyone looks absolutely fantastic — children, staff, families, the whole Broad Oak crew. The colours, the costumes, the smiles… it’s all spot‑on. A proper proud‑to‑be‑Broad‑Oak moment as we make our way through Penwortham.

The float is finally finished and looking absolutely brilliant — every last detail in place and ready to roll. It’s having its final once‑over and will be setting off for the collection point any minute. And of course, Where’s Wally herself — Miss Barton — is officially in charge of the tunes, so expect absolute bangers all the way there. The whole thing is about to get moving and it’s already sounding lively.

A huge thank you to everyone who has worked so hard this morning… now let’s get to the gala!

Broad Oak staff and helpers are out in full force this morning, working incredibly hard to get the float ready for Penwortham Gala. From last‑minute painting touches to creative decorating and plenty of teamwork, everyone’s pulling together to make it look fantastic. We can’t wait to see everyone there and share the fun of the day with our school community.
