π Wow what a scorcher! Some of our awesome Wildflowers young people kept cool today by chilling in the woodland π³
π We have been practising our tool use with the secateurs foraging edible plants to make a woodland tea infusion and choosing good sticks for whittling!
πΏ We really enjoyed the shade from the leaves. Can't wait for Forest School tomorrow!

π€© Just some of the photos from our incredible trip to Bowland Wild Boar Park... we took so many it was hard to choose!
ππ¦ We met so many cool animals, found our Lancashire Wildflowers daisy growing in the wild, and found a super-awesome play park.
π₯Ή The baby meerkats were a real highlight!
π Thank you so much to Maz at for letting us come to this amazing park when it was nice and quiet!

πΎβ€οΈ A huge thank you to Lauren from Bruce & Co Dog Grooming and to Charlie's Doggy Daycare for coming to show us so much about how to care for our canine friends.
π₯Ή Bruce is just the cutest! And the children learned so much about caring for dogs, why grooming is so important, and even how to get started on a career in caring for animals.
π This was part of our Tuesday Animal Care short course, accredited by Asdan. We absolutely love to give the children these hands-on, real-life experiences! Thank you so much for being so wonderful, kind, patient and for bringing the adorable Bruce to come and meet us... we all had a blast and learned a lot, and we are very very grateful! π

Some recent photos from the park at Avenham π We have been talking about play parks in Preston lately, and thinking about how much we value our City's open spaces to play, chat, swing and thrive in! Even the wet and windy weather didn't stop out awesome young people from having loads of fun.
Our apologies for being a bit quiet recently on here... We have loads to share, including some exciting new additions to the hub π€«π€©

The term "neuroaffirming" is everywhere right now. But what does it actually mean in practice? π
Because unfortunately, not all therapy that claims to be neuroaffirming truly is.
Here's what neuroaffirming therapy should look like:
β
It treats neurological difference as variation, not disorder
β
It doesn't try to make you more neurotypical β it helps you understand and work with your brain
β
It recognises that masking and suppression cause harm β not that stimming and directness do
β
It uses your sensory and communication preferences, not a one-size approach
β
It doesn't pathologise your coping strategies β it explores them with curiosity
β
It centres your autonomy and your definition of a good life
β
It takes an informed stance on the social model of disability and neurodiversity paradigm
What it should NOT do:
β Frame autism or ADHD as problems to be fixed
β Prioritise compliance over wellbeing
β Ignore the role of environment in your distress
β Require you to mask just to access support
If you've had therapy that didn't feel safe, or that left you feeling like the problem β that experience is valid. And there is better out there.
I work with children, young people, adults, and families using an integrative, creative, neuroaffirming approach.

π’ What a wonderful day! We had SO much fun at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Monday π₯³ The children were braver than us π We've got lots more videos to share, so keep checking back in the next few days.
βοΈ What do you think our next big trip should be? Let us know in the comments π
π€ One of the huge benefits of us being part of the Home Educating Community is that we can go to places like Blackpool when it is less busy and less over-stimulating for the children (and us π«£π)
β€οΈ We were really proud of how everyone worked together as a team for the day, compromising, sharing and laughing together.
