A huge thank you to Mrs Byard, who organised a Roman Feast for the Year 3 class this afternoon. The children were given the opportunity to touch, taste and feel some of the foods that were eaten by the Romans. We learnt about how historians learn about what the Romans ate and examined some Roman mosaics depicting foods. We learnt about what their diets could tell us about different people and we compared what was the same and different about the diets of different people from Roman society.

Y1 had an amazing time at The Blackpool Tower today. We started off with a trip to the 4D cinema where the children enjoyed a short film about Blackpool which certainly challenged all the senses. We then took the lift to the top of the tower and enjoyed some magnificient views over the Lancashire countryside and out to sea. After we had eaten our lunch it was time to pay a visit to the Comedy Carpet and as the tide was in, we played out on the promenade. We finished off the day with a fabulous 2 hour show at the world famous Blackpool Tower Circus. Thank you to all the staff and volunteer helpers who make visits like this posssible, to the wonderful Blackpool Tower Team who couldn't have made us more welcome and to all the children for such impeccable behaviour throughout.

Congratulations to our Rounders Team who finished in 3rd place 🥉 at the Carr Hill High School KS2 Rounders tournament. We really grew into the competition and worked brilliantly as a team. This brings an end to our competitive sport for the year so we would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Carroll and her Sports Leaders for organising another great year of competitions.

This morning our Y6 pupils joined many other Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education schools on a Zoom Call with singer/songwriter Chip Kendall. The children began learning the songs that they will be singing at their diocesan leavers' service at St George's Church, Chorley in a few weeks' time. The children really enjoyed the session and it was the perfect excuse to continue the chip party afterwards with chips from Barnacle Bills fish and chip shop.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome former headteacher Mr Worthy back into school today for the first time in over 20 years! He was delighted with what he saw in terms of the changes we have made, but also pleased to see that many things remain the same. It certainly brought back many happy memories for him of his time here. No doubt many of our parents and carers will remember Mr Worthy from their time here as a pupil themselves. It was also a wonderful opportunity to get some of Mr Worthy's staff team back together for a photo!
