Monday morning shoemaking for these apprentices. Concave, fullered and plain stamped including set toe, rocker toe, rolled toe and a stud hole. It’s no wonder they’re all looking busy.

Awarded to the farrier or apprentice that goes above and beyond
This year is was awarded to Grace
Grace is always there for what ever task is needed , she is one of the first on the showground in the morning and one of the last to leave at night ,she helps out even before it’s asked and can be relied on no matter what is going on ,and always with a smile
She absolutely pulled it out of the bag this year and has a work ethic that can only be admired
Not to mention she is turning into an amazing farrier and definitely gives some of the qualifides a run for their money
We can’t wait to watch her grow and achieve

Many thanks to chief steward Adam Fox and his team on Thursday at the Great Yorkshire Farriery competition. They again put on a great comp for qualified farriers and apprentices. Here are some pictures I took on the day. Well done to all taking part.

At Myerscough College, our Higher Education Farriery department offers both the HE Dip in Farriery (Level 5), currently the only route to becoming an approved training farrier (ATF) and the BSc (Hons) in Farriery Science (Level 6).
