Outstanding in all areas.
And one Ofsted quote that says everything.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate , our 6-bed children’s home in Yorkshire, which has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted across every area.

Woodlands supports boys and girls with social and emotional difficulties, and the latest report captures what exceptional care really looks like.

One section stood out powerfully:
“Children receive exceptional support to access services when specialist health provision is limited. One child experienced a prolonged hospital stay following surgery for a serious illness. Staff arranged their shifts so they could be at the child’s bedside each day and ensure that they were never alone.”

Their social worker said:
“Staff cared for the child like [they were] their own.”

That is Outstanding care.

Not just in the inspection sense.
In the human sense.

The report also praised the home’s warmth, laughter, strong relationships, educational progress, safeguarding culture and leadership that keeps children’s futures at the heart of decision-making.

Huge congratulations to:

👏 Anthony, Registered Manager
👏 Fiasal, Deputy Manager
👏 Charlotte, Service Manager
👏 Jason, Head of Care
👏 And every single member of the Woodlands team

This is what happens when care is consistent, thoughtful and full of heart.

Please join us in celebrating Woodlands and the incredible people behind this achievement.

“Pupils want to come to school every day.”
That might be one of the best things Ofsted could ever say about a school.

At The Cedars School in Leicestershire, our staff create the kind of environment where young people feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Ofsted also said:

“The impact of the school’s work on pupils’ social and academic outcomes is remarkable.”

For a small specialist school supporting up to 4 pupils, that says everything.

This is what great teaching can do.

It builds trust.
It creates confidence.
It helps young people believe school can be for them again.

And right now, we have 3 teaching vacancies across the North West, closing midnight 28 June.

You could help make young people want to come to school every day too.

Half term at Phoenix House was full of adventure.
Boats, books, Blackpool… and somehow Pac-Man got involved.

The team at put together a brilliant mix of activities during the recent half term, giving young people plenty of chances to get out, try new things and make memories.

There was a Lake Windermere boating day, a World Book Day dress-up, a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and the big arcade-style showdown… Pac-Man Live.

Yes, actual running around.
Yes, ghostly pursuers.
Yes, power pellets.
And yes, probably a few staff members realising they are not as quick as they once were.

This is what life in a children’s home can look like.

Adventure.
Belonging.
Stability.
Fun that actually means something.

Because these moments are never just “days out”. They build confidence, trust and memories that stay with young people long after the activity ends.

Big shoutout to the Phoenix House team for making half term one to remember.

💼 Fancy meaningful work with a bit of adventure built in?

Some Ofsted quotes stay with you.

This one says everything about the kind of care being delivered at Woodlands.

“Children receive exceptional support to access services when specialist health provision
is limited. One child experienced a prolonged hospital stay following surgery for a serious
illness. Staff arranged their shifts so they could be at the child's bedside each day and
ensure that they were never alone. Their social worker commented that, 'Staff cared for
the child like [they were] their own'.

That is what Outstanding care looks like.

Not just policies.
Not just procedures.
But people who show up, stay present, and go above and beyond when it matters most.

Huge credit to Anthony Sebrukowicz, Fiasal Rafiq, and the whole team at Woodlands for the compassion, dedication and consistency behind this recognition.

Please join us in celebrating the team and the incredible difference they make every day. ❤️

From bowling strikes to life skills wins…
Sycamore House School has had a busy spring.

This term, the young people at Sycamore House School have been getting stuck into a brilliant mix of learning, activities and real-world skills.

They’ve been completing BTEC units, taking on bowling and table tennis for physical activity, developing practical life skills like ironing, laundry and hoovering, and starting volunteering placements in the community.

And honestly, that’s the bit we love.

Because specialist education isn’t just about what happens at a desk.

It’s learning how to build confidence.
It’s trying something new.
It’s developing independence.
It’s showing up, joining in and realising: “Actually, I can do this.”

From dog kennels and hair salons to safer internet activities and sports sessions, Sycamore’s spring term has been full of small wins that mean a lot.

Big shoutout to the staff team for creating opportunities that are practical, positive and genuinely meaningful.

This is education with real life built in.

What if your job in teaching wasn't giving answers…
but rather, helping young people believe they can find them?

“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” - Margaret Mead

At Hexagon Care, this sits right at the heart of our education approach, and we are recruiting 2x roles in where you can make a big difference.

Our schools support young people to build confidence, curiosity, resilience and real-world skills — not just to pass tests, but to prepare for life beyond the classroom.

And right now, we’re looking for two Headteachers in North West England who can help lead that mission.

📍 The Nook School Headteacher — Colne, Lancashire
📍 Stonegate School Headteacher — Bentham, Lancashire

If you’re ready to lead with purpose, shape specialist education and make a real difference for young people who need the right people around them…

Two weeks of training. A lot of pasta. One brilliant cause.
Rob, Steph and Aliyah are taking on Manchester for young people with cancer.

Three members of staff from are lacing up their trainers for the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run Half Marathon on 31 May, raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust as part of Team Jen.

Rob, Steph and Aliyah describe it as “three colleagues with a crazy dream to get through this run” — which feels both inspiring and mildly concerning for their knees.

But the reason behind it is incredibly powerful.

Teenage Cancer Trust supports young people aged 13 to 24 with specialist care, dedicated staff and services designed around them, so they never have to face cancer alone.

Their JustGiving page has already raised £535 + £118.75 Gift Aid from 29 donations, which is amazing... but we’d love to help them push that even further!

So if you can spare a few pounds, please give them a boost, cheer them on, and help turn every mile into hope for young people and families who need it most.

Huge shoutout to Rob, Steph and Aliyah.
May the trainers be comfy, the pasta be plentiful, and the blisters be minimal.

They support everyone else behind the scenes.
So naturally, we made them stand awkwardly in front of a camera. 👀

Today is , so we’re celebrating the people who help weave individuals into the fabric of Hexagon Care Services.

Our are there from the very beginning.
From recruitment and onboarding, through professional development, staff support, wellbeing, progression and eventually retirement or moving on to new adventures.

Basically, if working life at Hexagon has a beginning, middle and end… HR are usually somewhere nearby with a form, a policy, a solution, or a very full inbox.

This year, the team has focused heavily on helping us bring the right people into our homes, schools and services. That includes strengthening safer recruitment procedures, improving onboarding processes and supporting the recruitment of staff who can make a real difference to children and young people.

Their work has also been recognised externally, with Ofsted praising areas of our recruitment expertise and practice.

And their impact doesn’t stop once someone starts.

From terms, conditions and benefits, to staff wellbeing and professional development, the team continues to support colleagues across the organisation. One recent example is the introduction of the for eligible staff, with over 98% of staff choosing to enrol.

Not bad for something that started life in the land of “boring small print”.

The HR team also continues to champion development, including their own. Three members of the team are currently working towards fully funded CIPD qualifications, with a fourth about to start their journey.

So today we’re saying a big thank you to our HR team for everything they do to support our people, strengthen our services and help Hexagon continue to grow.

And yes, special thanks to Matt, Siobhan, Alex and Michelle, who were the only ones in when Comms arrived with a camera.

Reluctantly photographed.
Professionally appreciated.

Missing from the photo are Sarah, Dan, Kate and Zander, who somehow managed to avoid this one. Suspicious timing, but well played.

Please join us in celebrating the team behind the team. 👏

You are enough.

A simple message for our young people whom often struggle with self belief, self confidence and sel acceptance. This simple message is something we should all remind ourselves from time-to-time.
