Mini's Day Care

Another fun and busy week at Mini's Daycare!

Preschool have had a trip to the local cafe. They all chose their food and drink, then took them to the counter and paid at the till. They were all very well behaved and had a great time.
At functional skills, the children practiced balancing bean bags and cones on their heads.
Toddlers topic at the moment is People who help us. They have been role playing at the baby clinic, looking after lots of poorly babies, and each other.
All the children enjoyed singing ring a ring o' roses outside, and joining in doing the actions, helping the babies to do them too!

What a busy week we have had at Nursery!

We have been celebrating Birthdays, jumping in muddy puddles and shopping in our role play garden shop and café.

Pre-school have been using their maths skills to count our planted sunflowers, estimate how tall they will grow and how many petals they will have.

Toddlers have explored our sensory rainbow rice, talking about colours and using fine motor skills to scoop then out and place in bowls.

We made play dough using maths and physical skills and the children chose to make marks in it with dinosaur foot prints.

The children have been constructing with a variety of resources and talking about measures... tall/short, big and small.

This week we have welcomed back all our Term Time Children for the Summer Term!

What a busy week it has been....

In addition to our existing extra curriculum activities: Swimming and Dance Class Boggie beats

We now offer an additionsl extra curriculum Functional Skills classes on a Thursday afternoon, this has been a huge hit with the children!

This week the children have been exploring fruit/food and textures
Younger children have used fruit/food as a sensory play theme making marks in custard, yoghurt and blended cereal etc (using non dairy products for under 2s).

Toddlers and Pre-school have been promoting their fine and gross motor skills in

* Sensory ice rainbow painting (ice & powder paint)
*free painting
* using stencils
* Functional Skills class
* exploring marks made in sand

Children have also been learning about quantities, more or less in water play and creating dinosaur dens to enhance imaginative play.

Any families returning to or moving to the UK should speak to the local authority (often referred to as the council) school admission team in their chosen areas for information on how to apply for a school place. Local authorities should support parents in choosing schools, which includes providing information on

Government funds early education entitlements (free hours of childcare) for parents of young children:

All parents of 3- and 4-year-olds can access 15 free hours of childcare per week, regardless of their immigration status or whether they are working.
Eligible working parents of 3- and 4-year-olds can access an additional 15 hours of childcare, known as the ‘30 Hours’ entitlement.
Disadvantaged 2-year-olds may be eligible to access 15 free hours of childcare.
Children arriving in the UK through the Ukraine Family Scheme or the Homes for Ukraine (sponsorship) Scheme will be able to access the Department for Education’s free early education entitlements if they meet the existing eligibility criteria. Усі діти та підлітки, які приїжджають в Англію з України за сімейною або спонсорською схемами, мають право на доступ до освіти та догляду за дітьми (для дітей дошкільного віку), під час перебування у Великій Британії. Найкраще місце для навчання дітей шкільного віку — це школи. Відвідування шкіл — життєво важливий елемент найскорішої інтеграції дитини у місцеву громаду.

Подання заяви на отримання місця у школі:
Сім’ї, що повертаються або переїжджають у Велику Британію, мають звернутися до освітнього відділу місцевого органу влади (часто це Local Council) за інформацією про подання заяви на отримання місця у школі. Місцеві органи влади повинні надавати підтримку батькам у виборі шкіл, зокрема відомості про наявні місця у школах і правила подання заяв. В Англії більшість дітей розпочинають навчання у школі у вересні після того, як їм виповнилося чотири повні роки, тобто 5 років їм виповниться протягом першого навчального року. Наприклад, якщо вашій дитині виповнилося 4 роки у період між 1 вересня 2021 року і 31 серпня 2022 року, вона розпочне навчання в школі у вересні 2022 року. Родини в Англії можуть звернутися до місцевого органу влади, щоб отримати інформацію про:

державні школи поблизу;
умови зарахування до шкіл, куди вони хочуть направити дитину.
Згідно з Кодексом практики зарахування учнів до школи (School Admissions Code), відповідні органи мають намагатися сповістити батьків, які подали заяву на отримання місця для дитини в школі, про результат розгляду заяви протягом 10 шкільних днів, і зобов'язані це зробити до завершення 15 шкільних днів.

Якщо у школах, розташованих у межах прийнятної відстані від місця проживання дитини, немає місць, місцеві органи влади зобов’язані швидко влаштувати дитину в школу за Протоколом справедливого доступу (FAP — Fair Access Protocol).

Протоколи FAP використовуються з метою якнайшвидшого забезпечення місця у школі для дітей із соціально вразливих категорій, для яких не вдалося знайти місце в школі у звичайний спосіб. Усі приймальні комісії повинні брати участь у місцевих протоколах FAP, включно із зарахуванням дітей у школи згідно з цими протоколами. У Кодексі практики зарахування учнів до школи наведено категорії дітей, які мають право на влаштування в школу за протоколами FAP, зокрема це діти біженців і прохачів притулку.

Recently at Mini's Day Care we have been busy preparing for Spring and Easter. 🐣🐤🐑🐥🌻🌼

The children have been making Easter crafts using potato shaped as eggs, egg and chicken prints.

We even had time to make some Easter nests and an Egg hunt activity.

The children have been practising their matching skills with cut out eggs and learning about patterns.

We have also been learning about our rules...

Topics and individual planning will be sent out to parents this week via email.

This week at Mini's Day Care the children have been exploring musical instruments and natural objects on our curiosity table.

Making the most of the lovely sunny weather we have been practising children's gross motor skills, climbing, jumping and making huge circles with our ribbons.

We have been introducing Easter, and life cycles in preparation for our upcoming Spring Topic.

Children were enthusiastic to participate in our Maths skills workshop.:

Sorting animals, eggs and sensory feathers by colour. They used tweezers which also promotes their fine motor skills.
They especially enjoyed baking activities, weighing/counting ingredients and lots and lots of mixing.

We will post again on Sunday to wish all the wonderful Mum's, step Mum's, grandma's, Nana's etc A Happy Mother's Day!

Next week another staff profile will be added. It will be An all about me on Manager Joanne.

Recently at Mini's Day Care we have been getting out into the local community and enjoying the sunshine. 🌞

We have been planting sunflowers in our garden which promotes care of the environment and Maths skills.

We have taken long strolls along the river and even saw some ducks, we have also been on some local outings to the nearby park.

We have set up a pets area in in home corner, the children have been taking their teddy animals on walks with leads and enjoyed caring for them.

Starting this week in addition to posting what has been happening at Mini's Day Care we will also be posting one staff profile every two weeks. A bit like the All About Me Profile you were asked to fill in when your child started at nursery with us.

This week the Staff profile is on our Director Anthony Jenkins!

Many of you may have seen him recently at Mini's Day Care, as as he is currently upgrading our Garden area to ensure children have even more opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

If you have not yet met Anthony, he may look familiar as he is recently a bit of a celebrity appearing on the BBC Ambulance TV series late in 2021.

Anthony is a huge supporter of our local community, in fact not only does he support he serves our community.

Prior to opening Mini's play centre and Mini's Day Care, he served as a Police Officer in Preston. He (in addition to being a business owner) currently works for the North West Ambulance service as a Paramedic.

During Lock down, he came with the ambulance to visit our children and gave them a tour of the ambulance with sirens etc! It was a hit with the children..

Anthony is a family man and has a massive personality. We all know when he is in the building or on site as you can hear his laughter for miles.
