Weβve had the most wonderful day at Windmill Farm! π·ππ’π
The children had a fantastic time exploring the farm and meeting all of the animals. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the experience extra special by getting us involved in feeding George the pig his jacket potatoes, bottle-feeding the lambs, and even bringing one of the tortoises out for us to meet up close!
We also enjoyed a train ride around the farm to see all of the animals out in the fields, followed by lots of fun in the park and soft play area.
We are so proud of all the children today. They were exceptionally well-behaved throughout the visit, and several members of the public commented on their lovely manners and fantastic behaviour. π
We do apologise for the number of photos, but we wanted to capture as many special moments from the day as possible and share them with you all. We hope you enjoy looking through them as much as we enjoyed making the memories! β€οΈ

πΊοΈπ΄ββ οΈ Treasure Maps π΄ββ οΈπΊοΈ
This morning in preschool, we enjoyed making our very own treasure maps inspired by our story Never Mess with a Pirate Princess. π
The children used old tea bags to stain the paper, carefully dabbing and pressing them onto the sheets to create an aged, pirate-style effect. This provided a great opportunity to practise good grip and develop fine motor skills through lots of controlled dabbing movements. ππ»
As they worked, the children enthusiastically talked about pirates, treasure hunts, and the treasures they hoped to discover. They shared their ideas with their friends, describing where their treasure might be hidden and what exciting items they might find at the end of their journey. π«Άπ»
This activity linked closely to our story, encouraging imaginative thinking, storytelling, communication, and creativity while supporting the development of fine motor skills.

π π΄ββ οΈ Princess and Pirates ππ΄ββ οΈ
As part of our pirate-themed learning linked to Never Mess with a Pirate Princess, the children took part in a treasure rescue activity . Treasure had been frozen inside blocks of ice, and the children were challenged to find ways to free it. π€© π§
The children explored a variety of tools, searching around the room to find objects they thought might help.
They used different techniques, including tapping, banging, scraping and chipping at the ice. π¨ π§
The children showed curiosity and perseverance as they tested their ideas and observed what happened to the ice.
Through the activity, children developed their problem-solving skills, explored cause and effect, and worked collaboratively, sharing tools and discussing which methods were most effective. ππ»

Our babies enjoyed exploring a water tuff tray filled with frogs and lily pads. πΈ
They splashed the water with their hands, reached for the frogs and watched the lily pads float around the tray. Some of our babies enjoyed patting the water and making sounds, while others carefully explored the different textures and movements. This activity supported their sensory development, hand-eye coordination and curiosity as they explored using their senses. Our babies were happy, engaged and enjoyed sharing alongside their friends!

π¦ Dinosaur Fun π¦
Our babies had fun exploring a dinosaur sensory tuff tray filled with sand, artificial leaves, stones, and plants that acted as little trees and jungle areas for the dinosaurs. π
Our babies enjoyed discovering dinosaur bones hidden in the sand and used magnifying glasses to carefully spot and investigate the different dinosaurs. This encouraged curiosity, exploration, and early sensory development as our babies touched, scooped, and explored the different textures and objects. We also enjoyed singing our favourite βThereβs a Dinosaurβ song together and shared lots of fun dinosaur stories, helping to support the childrenβs language, listening, and imagination skills throughout the experience! π€©
