Today in B3 we had a day all about hedgehogs after Liane saw one in her garden! We loved listening to songs about hedgehogs, exploring our hedgehog sensory tuff tray, making our own hedgehogs using playdough and sticks and the finally a lovely arts and crafts activity where we used leaves we collected from the garden to createpur very own hedge hog pictures!! πŸ¦”πŸŒΏ

🚽 Does your child feel anxious about using the toilet?

Toilet anxiety is more common than many people realise, and it can make toileting a stressful experience for children and families.

A child may develop toilet anxiety after an unpleasant experience, such as after an episode of constipation, a loud hand dryer or a strong smell. Sensory factors like bright lights, echoes, an uncomfortable toilet seat or unfamiliar environments can also play a role.

Over time, these experiences can lead to feelings of worry whenever they need the toilet. Some children may even start holding in their wee or poo to avoid going altogether, or have wee and poo accidents

πŸ’‘ How can you help?
βœ… Acknowledge and validate their feelings.
βœ… Identify possible triggers and causes of anxiety
Create a calm, familiar, and welcoming bathroom environment.
βœ… Use games, music, or pictures to make the space more comfortable.
βœ… Build confidence through other self-care skills, such as handwashing or getting dressed.
βœ… Break toileting into small, manageable steps and then build on this.
βœ… Use distraction techniques where appropriate.
βœ… Stick to predictable routines.
βœ… Talk openly about anxiety and feelings.
βœ… Focus on positive achievements, not just using the toilet e.g. washing of hands.
βœ… Check for constipation or bladder issues, as these can make toileting more difficult and will need treatment before progress can be made. See our advice for children with constipation for more information.

T1 have been exploring messy play with custard - using maths language. Then we have been exploring fruit - watermelon πŸ‰πŸŠ , oranges and lemons πŸ‹ tasting also ( by infusing oranges in our daily water). Testing hand and eye coordination using mallets in cardboard boxes...

T1 have enjoyed developing our physical development with using knives to cut up a variety of different fruits discussing colours and what they are called. We also enjoyed testing out new heights with climbing up and down on our new play equipment.

Today in B3 we love reading the whales on the bus! We had themed day doing different activities all based around The whales on the bus book. We all love the part in the story about the sheep in the jeep covered in yucky mud πŸ‘πŸš™πŸ“–
So here is what the children did...
