Our new British Sign Language Level 1 course will be starting on Wednesday late September, 2024, at 18:15-20:15. Please book early as already, several persons have signed up for level 2 classes.
Dependent on interest, we may also run another 2 new Level course on Monday evening and Saturday morning, starting late September, 2024, at the same venue.
The course will be at Bamber Bridge Methodist Church, in Bamber Bridge, PR5 6ED, and is 2hrs in duration and runs for twenty weeks.

Learn British Sign Language LEVEL ONE, IS A COURSE RUNNING UP TO 20 WEEKS.
Entry Requirements for BSL Level One.
This course is for beginners who have no knowledge of British Sign Language. It will help you understand and communicate in British Sign Language with Deaf People. To find out what on what day the course will run, please go to BSL Course Information on this website.
Course Details
The qualification is divided into 3 units, each of which can be achieved separately. Candidates are required to pass all units to gain the qualification.
Unit 101 Introduction to BSL Topics covered: meeting people, using numbers, weather, transport, and directions.
Unit 102 Conversation to BSL Topics covered: at home – people, animals and objects, using numbers, interests and activities, and weather.
Unit 103 Communicate in BSL about everyday life. Topics covered: getting around, exchanging information, refreshments, and using numbers.
When passed you will hold an accredited BSL Level 1 certificate.
Cost of Course
The cost of the course is £319 plus £105 for the three parts exams in total. Payments can be made by a £50 non-returnable deposit, and then by monthly instalments. The exam fee is payable to Signature who are the governing body of BSL. There is a 25% discount for under 18s who do the course and a 30% for exam prices for under 18s. Signature set these exam costs.

New Level 3: BSL32l/ BSL322/ BSL320

From October 1st 2013 Signature will introduce a new style course which will have three assessments throughout, like Level 1 and Level 2, and will no longer be an 'NVQ'. It is possible that a Level 4 will be introduced, which would be an NVQ accredited course. If this is the case students will be required to study Level 3 and Level 4, before continuing onto Level 6. Hi everyone, sorry not ben on Facebook for a while due to moving house, and it had taking 5 months to rebuild the garden into shape. Which is now finished

I am starting to work again teaching on all these levels again after a long break from level 3 and 6. Last year they are some people asking learn level 1, 2 , both level 6 will be online and classroom work.

There will be pre-level 3 NVQ starting next month for those who need to rebuild signing skills to match level 3 standard.
Am I good enough?

If you are not sure if you are ready for the Level 3 or Level 6 online courses, you can arrange a 1:1 through we**am to assess your signing skills. Previous 1:1 tuition can be provided if required to improve individuals signing skills.
