Reserach opportunity at the school
Our research aims to understand the biology of stem cells present within the pulp of children’s teeth. The ultimate goal of our research is to determine whether stem cells from children’s teeth can be used to regenerate injured human tissue. Current research by other groups has shown that stem cells from children’s teeth can differentiate into several tissue types including bone, cartilage, nerve and adipose.
In addition, studies have shown that dental stem cells play a role in promoting tissue repair following periodontal injury.
