Today some of the preschool children have been on an adventure “going on a bear hunt”, they had their snack down in the woods, they’ve been exploring for lovely natural resources which we can use in our preschool room, we have developed our gross motor skills and importantly we have all listened super carefully to the safety rules and instructions and behaved extremely well. Well done preschool 🚶‍♀️🚶🐻🍓🍊❤️

Today, the toddlers enjoyed a sensory rescue activity where sea animals were frozen inside blocks of ice. Using spoons as tools, the children carefully chipped, scraped, and tapped the ice to help free the animals. They showed great curiosity as they explored the cold texture of the ice and watched it melt in their hands. The activity encouraged fine motor skill development, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving as the children worked out the best ways to rescue the sea creatures. Throughout the experience, the toddlers used language to describe what they could see and feel, while learning about sea animals and their habitats in a fun and engaging way.🐠🐬🐳🐙

What we have done this week in baby room 🦕🚧🫧🥣🐷🎨

Dinosaur Swamp Play 🦕🦖

Children explored a dinosaur swamp created with coloured water and dinosaur figures. This sensory activity encouraged curiosity, imaginative play, and early language development as practitioners introduced descriptive words such as “wet,” and “splash.” The water texture supported sensory exploration while handling the dinosaurs helped develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Painting Ice 🖌️🫟🎨

Babies investigated ice blocks using paint and brushes. They observed how the ice felt cold and watched the colours mix as the ice melted. This activity promoted sensory development, early scientific thinking, and creativity. Children were encouraged to explore cause and effect while strengthening their grasp and coordination through painting movements.

Bubble pop 🫧

Children enjoyed exploring and popping bubbles as they floated through the air. This activity encouraged physical development as babies reached, stretched, crawled, and moved to chase the bubbles. It supported hand-eye coordination and visual tracking skills as children followed the bubbles’ movements. The experience also promoted communication and language development through laughter, excitement, and the introduction of new words such as “bubble,” “pop,” and “float.” The sensory nature of the activity created opportunities for engagement, curiosity, and social interaction with peers and practitioners.

Clean the Muddy Pigs 🐷 🐖

Toy pigs covered in mud ( hot chocolate and cold water ) were provided alongside clean water, sponges, and brushes. Children enjoyed washing the pigs clean, developing fine motor skills through scrubbing and squeezing. The activity supported imaginative play and introduced simple concepts of care and hygiene. It also encouraged concentration and problem-solving as children worked to remove the mud.

Foam, Silver Bowls and Spoons 🥄 🥣

Children explored soft foam presented in silver bowls with a variety of spoons. They scooped, stirred, and transferred the foam between containers, supporting sensory exploration and fine motor development. The reflective bowls captured children’s attention and encouraged visual investigation. This activity also promoted early mathematical concepts such as filling, emptying, and quantity.

Soil and Diggers 🚧🧱👷‍♀️

A tray filled with soil, toy diggers, and construction vehicles provided opportunities for exploratory play. Children used the diggers to scoop, push, and transport soil, strengthening hand muscles and coordination. The activity encouraged imaginative play, problem-solving, and an understanding of the world as children explored different textures and learned about construction-themed resources.
